[Termes IGN] utilisateurRésumé : (Auteur) Mobile devices such as personal digital assistants (PDAs) and mobile phones are in widespread use already today and converging to mobile smart phones. They enable users to access a wide range of services and information without guidance through their actual demands. Especially during mass events like the Olympic Games 2008 in Beijing - which was initially the context of our work - a large service space is expected to support all mobile visitors, being athletes, journalists, or spectators. Current approaches tackling such problems are location-based, meaning that a user's location is central to service provision, and even context-aware, meaning that, beyond location, characteristics of a user's environment are taken into account. Such information obviously helps to deliver relevant information at the right time to the mobile users. Going one step further, a situation-aware System abstracts from the context dimensions by translating specific contexts into logical situations. Knowing the situation end users are in allows the System to better identify the information to be delivered to them and to choose the appropriate services with regard to their scope, which is referred to as service roaming. Even though many context frameworks have been introduced in the past few years, what is usually missing is the notion of characteristic features of contexts that are invariant during certain time intervals. This paper presents these concepts in the context of a platform development, namely FLAME2008, which is able to support its mobile users with personalized situation-aware services in push and pull mode. One peer is introduced to the System by each participant. However current P2P applications can only provide file sharing and other forms of relatively simple data communications, and, in this paper, we demonstrate how this limitation can be bridged by indexing and querying a 3D virtual-world on a dynamic distributed network. We present an algorithm for 3D range queries as well as an algorithm for nearest neighbor queries. We also show how to build such a complex application from the ground level of a P2P routing algorithm. [Termes IGN] valeur propreRésumé : (Auteur) Video provides strong cues for automatic road extraction that are not available in static aerial images. In video from a static camera, or stabilized (or geo-referenced) aerial video data, motion patterns within a scene enable fonction attribution of scene regions. A "road," for example, may be defined as a path of consistent motion - a definition which is valid in a large and diverse set of environments. The spatio-temporal structure tensor field is an ideal representation of the image derivative distribution at each pixel because it can be updated in real time as video is acquired. An eigen-decomposition of the structure tensor encodes both the local scene motion and the variability in the motion. Additionally, the structure tensor field can be factored into motion components, allowing explicit determination of traffic patterns in intersections. Example results of a real time system are shown for an urban scene with both well-traveled and infrequently traveled roads, indicating that both can be discovered simultaneously. The method is ideal in urban traffic scenes, which are the most difficult to analyze using static imagery. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) Sensor networks are unattended deeply distributed systems whose database schema can be conceptualized using the relational model. Aggregation queries on the data sampled at each sensor node are the main means to extract the abstract characteristics of the surrounding environment. However, the non-uniform distribution of the sensor nodes in the environment leads to inaccurate results generated by the aggregation queries. In this paper, we introduce "spatial aggregations" that take into consideration the spatial location of each measurement generated by the sensor nodes. We propose the use of spatial interpolation methods derived from the fields of spatial statistics and computational geometry to answer spatial aggregations. In particular, we study Spatial Moving Average (SMA), Voronoi Diagram and Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN). Investigating these methods for answering spatial average queries, we show that the average value on the data samples weighted by the area of the Voronoi cell of the corresponding sensor node, provides the best precision. Consequently, we introduce an algorithm to compute and maintain the accurate Voronoi cell at each sensor node while the location of the others arrive on data stream. We also propose AVC-SW, a novel algorithm to approximate this Voronoi cell over a sliding window that supports dynamism in the sensor network. To demonstrate the performance of in-network implementation of our aggregation operators, we have developed prototypes of two different approaches to distributed spatial aggregate processing.
