Medicine has long being using the benefits of modern technologies and without them it cannot function. This paper offers a proposal of use and mutual collaboration of several modern technologies within facilitating the location and communication between persons in need of emergency medical assistance and the emergency head offices, i.e., the ambulance. The main advantage of the proposed model is the technical possibility of implementation and use of these technologies in developing countries and low implementation cost. [Termes IGN] validation des donnéesRésumé : (Auteur) Within our research of the Emergency GIS we have tried to extend the classic approach to the usage of spatial data within the emergency management with novel concepts of the user generated geo-content. Our goal is to include citizens into process of emergency awareness that will lead to better results in early warning and prevention of crisis events trough development of partnership between community and official emergency institutions and agencies. Therefore, we have developed a prototype of a mobile application for collecting georeferenced content in the field: EMdroid. It provides users with the ability to capture videos, images and sounds, or type text that will include the location data according to their actual position. The application also supports reliability assurance functionality that is based on the asynchronous push notification mechanism. Supported by proper emergency GIS infrastructure, users sending such data to Emergency Operation Center can provide critical information for emergency response and improve situation awareness of the emergency crews even before they are dispatched to the location of the emergency. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) To provide integrated access to various distributed geo-information sources, we have developed components as an extension to existing GIS application called GINIS. This application development framework is part of GeoNis framework for interoperability of GIS applications. The GINIS has an object-oriented architecture that is based on modern software component technologies. This paper describes platform and component based application that provide acess to various geo-information sources. Proposed component architecture completely separates representation of geodata from data stores. This kind of architecture can be re-used in different GIS applications.
