[Termes IGN] série temporelleRésumé : (auteur) The Antarctic ice sheet is an important mass of glacier ice. It is particularly sensitive to climate change, and the flow of Antarctica's inland glaciers into the sea, accelerated by collapsing ice shelves, threatens global sea level rise. The amount of snowmelt on the surface of the ice sheet is an important metric for accurately assessing surface material loss and albedo change, which affect the stability of the ice sheet. This study proposes a framework for quickly extracting time-series freeze-thaw information at the continental scale and 40 m resolution by taking advantage of the huge amount of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data acquired by Sentinel-1 satellites over the Antarctic, available for rapid processing on Google Earth Engine. Co-orbit normalization is used in the proposed framework to establish a unified standard of judgement by reducing the variations in the backscattering coefficient introduced by observation geometry, terrain fluctuations, and melt conditions between images acquired at different times. We implemented the framework to produce a massive dataset of both monthly freeze-thaw information over the Antarctic and higher temporal resolution freeze-thaw information for the Larsen C ice shelf from 2015 to 2019, with overall accuracies of 93% verified by a manual visual interpretation method and 84% evaluated from automatic weather station temperatures. Due to its effectiveness and robustness, the framework can be used to analyse the spatiotemporal distribution of snowmelt, the change in melt area, and anomalous melt events in Antarctica, especially those in Larsen C caused by foehn wind. Applying all the remote sensing technology available, the Chinese Academy of Sciences immediately launched into action, making full use of its state-of-the-art facilities, remote sensing planes, and satellites to amass invaluable optical and radar data. This unprecedented use of comprehensive remote sensing techniques provided accurate, up to the minute information for disaster management and has left us with a visually stunning and beautiful record that is as much a scientific achievement as it is an artistic one. Based on the accumulated data and images collected by the Project Team of Remote Sensing Monitoring and Assessment of the Wenchuan Earthquake, Atlas of Remote Sensing of the Wenchuan Earthquake documents the events as they happened in real time. The book covers the disaster from six aspects: geological, barrier lakes, collapsed buildings, damaged roads, destroyed farmland and forests, and demolished infrastructure. It also demonstrates that the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project, which has been standing for 2000 years, remains fully functioning, and keeps the Chengdu Plain operating optimally even after the earthquake. Translated into English for the first time, the Atlas presents a pictorial summation of this unique project. It chronicles the event with over 280 before and after color images from a range of perspectives. [Termes IGN] tomographie radarRésumé : (Auteur) The structure of forests is an important indicator of ecosystem dynamics and enables the modeling and monitoring of ecological change. Synthetic aperture radar tomography (TomoSAR) provides scene reflectivity estimation of vegetation along elevation coordinates. Due to the advantages of superresolution imaging and a small number of measurements, compressive sensing (CS) inversion techniques for SAR tomography were successfully developed and applied. This paper addresses the 3-D imaging of forested areas based on the framework of CS using fully polarimetric (FP) multibaseline SAR interferometric (MB-InSAR) tomography at P-band. A new CS-based FP MB-InSAR tomography method is proposed: a sum of Kronecker product (SKP) decomposition-based CS FP MB-InSAR tomography method (FP-SKPCS TomoSAR method). The method, based on an assumption that the reflectivity signal of a single scattering mechanism (SM) is more sparse than that of a composite of SMs, recovers the reflectivity profile of different SMs by using the CS technique. This method not only allows superresolution imaging with a low number of acquisitions but also can estimate the polarimetric SM of the vertical structure of forested areas. The effectiveness of these novel techniques for polarimetric SAR tomography is demonstrated using FP P-band airborne data sets acquired by the ONERA SETHI airborne system over a test site in Paracou, French Guiana, and the results of the vertical structure of forested areas derived by the method are verified by in situ test data.
