[Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (documentaliste) The study concerns the assessment of multisensor data from spaceborne radar and spaceborne optical systems for land use in East Africa. As images can be made by radar through clouds, radar is complementary to optical systems. Standard processing techniques were applied to both radar and optical data. In addition, radar data were manipulated to optimize this source. All the data covered three different sites (in Sudan and Kenya) with different characteristics in climate and topography. Radar data was compared to combined radar and optical data which led to the conclusion that classification accuracy and discrimination in settlements were improved with the combine.
