[Termes IGN] UltraCamRésumé : (auteur)The emergence of new digital aerial cameras and the diverse design and technology used in this type of cameras require in-situ calibration. Self-calibration methods, e.g. the Fourier model, are primarily used; however, additional parameters employed in such methods have not yet met the expectations to desirably model the complex multiple distortions existing in the digital aerial cameras. The present study proposes the Chebyshev–Fourier (CHF) and Jacobi–Fourier (JF) combined orthogonal models. The models are evaluated for the multiple distortions using both simulated and real data, the latter being derived from an UltraCam digital camera. The results indicate that the JF model is superior to the other methods where, e.g., in the UltraCam scenario, it improves the planimetric and vertical accuracy over the Fourier model by 18% and 22%, respectively. Furthermore, a 30% and 16% of reduction in external and internal correlation is obtained via this approach which is very promising. [Termes IGN] ligne caractéristiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This paper investigates reliable automatic high resolution image to map matching using a novel structural linear feature-based matching (SLIM) method. The main components used by this method are the specific patterns as well as the lines and points generated mathematically. These components are produced by extension and intersection of extracted line-segments. Due to the high numbers of extracted line-segments in both image and object space, the number of possible patterns is very high. In order to decrease the search space, the innovative SLIM method is performed in three main phases. In the first phase, using a new weighting procedure, only optimum numbers of high-qualified well-distributed patterns, which are more likely to have any correspondence in object space, are selected. In the second phase, the aim is to find a pair with maximum numbers of conjugate lines. To do so, all the possible patterns in object space are screened for each selected image pattern using four predefined geometric criteria. Simultaneously, the correspondence of the other crossing lines is also determined in the same manner. In third phase, the pair with maximum numbers of matched-lines is selected among all the results of second phase. Additionally, the final-phase is done to increase the amount of correctly matched-lines. The main contribution of this investigation is automatic and correct matching of linear features with no need to any initial information. Additionally, the end-points of the corresponding lines are not necessarily conjugate points. The results show the high potential of the proposed method in terms of accuracy, reliability, automation, and time reduction even in images with repetitive patterns or a high numbers of outliers. [Termes IGN] vectorisationRésumé : (auteur) In this paper, a novel road vectorization methodology based on image space clustering technique and weighted graph theory is presented. The proposed methodology describes a road as a set of optimized points on the centerline which should be connected by defining a number of appropriate criteria. The main contribution of this paper is to design a weighting scheme for combining a small number of road identities using Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) operators by defining appropriate decision strategy. In this regard, a novel geometric criterion is introduced. Result of the OWA aggregation specifies weight of each edge in the road network graph. Comparing the proposed approach with two state-of-the-art image space clustering-based road vectorization methods proves its efficiency to deal with roads with different widths, parallel roads with different distances, different types of intersections, and also noise clusters. Obtaining improved quality measures for several high-resolution images, demonstrates the successfulness of the vectorization approach. [Termes IGN] extraction automatiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Automatic building extraction is currently an important research topic in the field of photagrammetry. An active contour model is a well-received approach in this field. This paper proposes an improved active contour model that focuses on building extraction from aerial images and lidar data. The main research concern in this paper is the development of energy functions to the optimum use of expert human knowledge in the overall process. Based on this approach, a new fuzzy inference system for evaluating energy functions was developed by modeling the human perception of various effective parameters in the energy functions. (Compared to the existing active contour models, the new algorithm is capable of directing the initial contour to building feature boundaries more quickly and robustly. Accuracy assessment showed that the proposed model is capable of achieving a shape accuracy of 98 percent and a total accuracy of 97 percent in complex urban areas. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (Auteur) Buildings are regarded as the most prominent man-made objects: hence, their automatic extraction from aerial and satellite images has attracted the interest of photogrammetric research communities. In this paper, a balloon snake, a well-known active contour model, was developed for the precise extraction of building boundaries. Traditional active contours are highly sensitive to image data and are problematic when building boundaries are weakened, usually due to occlusions. To improve the efficiency of the traditional balloon snake model, a shape-based balloon snake model was introduced where knowledge about the expected geometrical shape of buildings was modelled and applied to the traditional snake representation. Implementation of the proposed algorithm confirmed its efficiency in the precise extraction of building boundaries. Experimental results and the qualitative and quantitative evaluations demonstrate the potential of the proposed shape-based balloon snake model and its superiority over traditional models.
