[Termes IGN] Nouvelle-ZélandeRésumé : (Auteur) Investigations in long‐term instrumental tidal records reveal that 20th century sea level along the coast of New Zealand is rising at 1.46 ± 0.10 mm/yr in agreement with the regional rates from southern Australia and Tasmania. We extend the advanced altimeter‐gauge approach of combining satellite altimetry and tide gauge data with constraint equations from long‐term adjacent tide gauge records to assess its performance in open seas and to explore the impact of vertical land motion on the observed relative sea level. This approach has again proven to be a robust method with an accuracy of 0.4 mm/yr. While no clear sea level rise pattern can be inferred once the tide gauge apparent sea level trends are corrected for vertical land motions from GPS, the advanced altimeter‐gauge and geological vertical rates are completely consistent and reveal three temporal phases of sea level rise marked by an increase from 1.46 ± 0.10 mm/yr to 1.72 ± 0.10 mm/yr during the period (1900–1936), followed by a decrease to 1.48 ± 0.10 mm/yr during the period (1936–1956), and a substantial increase to 2.60 ± 0.10 mm/yr during the period (1956–1975). In contrast, the 20th century microfossil proxy records of absolute sea level rise display twice the tide gauge sea level rise rate of 3.17 ± 0.30 mm/yr and 3.28 ± 0.45 mm/yr, respectively, once salt‐marsh records are corrected using GPS and geological vertical rates. Differential autocompaction and transfer functions are possible factors, which need further investigation. Such a system may be used for climate monitoring, radiosonde bias detection and correction, satellite measurement calibration/validation, and mm-level geodetic positioning with Global Navigation Satellite Systems. A field experiment was conducted in September–October 2011 at Observatoire de Haute-Provence (OHP). Two Raman lidars (IGN mobile lidar and OHP NDACC lidar), a stellar spectrometer (SOPHIE), a differential absorption spectrometer (SAOZ), a sun photometer (AERONET), 5 GPS receivers and 4 types of radiosondes (Vaisala RS92, MODEM M2K2-DC and M10, and Meteolabor Snow White) participated in the campaign. A total of 26 balloons with multiple radiosondes were flown during 16 clear nights. This paper presents preliminary findings from the analysis of all these data sets. Several classical Raman lidar calibration methods are evaluated which use either Vaisala RS92 measurements, point capacitive humidity measurements, or GPS integrated water vapour (IWV) measurements. A novel method proposed by Bosser et al. (2010) is also tested. It consists in calibrating the lidar measurements during the GPS data processing. The methods achieve a repeatability of 4–5%. Changes in the calibration factor of IGN Raman lidar are evidenced which are attributed to frequent optical re-alignments. When modelling and correcting the changes as a linear function of time, the precision of the calibration factors improves to 2–3%. However, the variations in the calibration factor, and hence the absolute accuracy, between methods and types of reference data remain at the level of 7%. The intercomparison of radiosonde measurements shows good agreement between RS92 and Snow White measurements up to 12 km. An overall dry bias is found in the measurements from both MODEM radiosondes. [Termes IGN] vapeur d'eauRésumé : (Auteur) This paper addresses real-time monitoring of the precipitable water vapor (PWV) from GNSS measurements and presents some results obtained from 6-month long GNSS PWV experiments using international and domestic GNSS networks. In the real-time GNSS PWV monitoring system a server/client structure is employed to facilitate formation of PWV networks and single-differenced GNSS measurements are utilized to mitigate errors in GNSS satellites’ orbits and clocks. An issue relating to baseline length between the server and clients is discussed in detail and as a result the PWV monitor is configured to perform in two modes depending on the baseline length. The server estimates sequentially the zenith wet delay of the individual stations, which is then converted into the PWV of the stations. We evaluate system performance by comparing the real-time PWV solution with reference solutions including meteorological measurements obtained with radiosondes and deferred-time precision GNSS PWV solutions. Results showed that the standard deviation of difference between the real-time PWV and the reference solutions ranged from 2.1 to 3.4 mm in PWV for a 6-month long comparison, which was improved to 1.4 to 2.9 mm by reducing comparison period to 20 days in winter.
