[Termes IGN] thermographie aérienneIndex. décimale : CG1989 Actes de congrès en 1989 Résumé : (Auteur) As Thermosense enters its second decade as a conference dedicated to the practical use of infrared thermography, a sense of maturity and evolution can be seen in many of the papers presented, while others are clearly cutting the leading edge of new applications. Session 1, chaired by Sharon Semanovich and Gary Weil, covers the mature technology of building and structures thermography. Once again an evening workshop is planned, which is always an enlightening two-way technical exchange and usually an open forum for discussing standards, guidelines, and training in this technology. Session 2, chaired by Dick Brooks and Terry Harter, this year reflects the use of thermography in the power generation field, particularly nuclear power. In order to allow attendees to sit in on as many workshops as possible, Session 2 is immediately followed by a Facilities and Utilities Workshop. Session 3, chaired by Elliot Rittenburg, covers process and product monitoring. More and more applications in this area are being developed for monitoring and control. We appreciate the participation of the authors in this area, particularly in light of the often proprietary nature of these applications. Session 4, chaired by Herb Kaplan and Bob Madding, focuses on the very 'vertical' application of electronics and microelectronics. This technology has particularly matured over the past 5 years, and thermosense has played a major role in technology transfer in this area. This session also has an evening workshop where attendees can share and learn about this important application. Session 5, on standards and ethics, chaired by George Baird, was moved this year from the beginning of the conference to the middle in an effort to have maximum attendance on this important topic. Also new this year is a workshop on Problem Solving, which will be led by Bob Madding. It is hoped that attendees will bring to this workshop their problems, difficulties, and experiences dealing with such topics as temperature measurement, spectral response, calibration, or simply making an application work. Session 6, on research and development, chaired by Jan Eklund, has grown every year to the point where it has become the largest session. The diversity of papers to be presented is a window on the commercial applications of thermography in the '90s. Note de contenu : SESSION 1 - BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES

The tutorials will cover the practical applications of thermographic and thermal sensing equipment, thermographic techniques, in-house predictive maintenance, and thermal imaging processing. The conference sessions have evolved over the years as applications have been developed. Session 1, chaired by Ron Lucier, covers Predictive Maintenance Applications for Facilities and Utilities. Papers deal with thermography for facility maintenance and come from the USA, Canada, and Spain. George Baird will chair Session 2, Ethics and Certifications. This session has provided information regarding standards, ethics, and certification for the last four conferences. This year it offers a recommended body of knowledge for thermographic diagnostics and an update of certification by ASNT. We have Sven-Ake Ljungberg and Lee Alien co-chairing the Buildings and Structures session. This session offers some new applications of infrared thermography to buildings and other structures. Presentations are from the USA, Sweden, Spain, and Denmark. Herb Kaplan and Bob Madding co-chair the session on Materials Evaluation. This is a rapidly growing field involving nondestructive evaluations of materials during production and application. This session contains papers from the USA, Canada, and the USSR. Session 5 on Processes and Products is co-chaired by Dennis Dresser and Dag Holmsten. This session contains the keynote address by Mr. Holmsten, Fifteen Years of Thermal Process Monitoring in the Cement Industry: Progress and Development (not available for publication).
