[Termes IGN] température de surfaceRésumé : (Auteur) This research develops a new temporal Geographic Information System (GIS) framework and applies it to compare General Circulation Model (GCM) products and reanalysis datasets in order to discern differences in patterns and locations of change as a proof of concept. The proposed framework incorporates the concept of kinematics to represent the movement of isolines as advection displacement vectors. Comparison of displacement vectors from the four datasets shows differences in isotherm shifts for both median values and interquartile ranges along with several prominent, well defined difference regions across the globe. Among the four datasets used in the study, the two reanalysis datasets have the smallest median difference in displacement vectors indicating the least spatiotemporal difference. As both reanalysis datasets are based on actual observations, this result validates the displacement vector representation. The CNRM CM3 20C3M dataset contains an Antarctic Cooling that led to most of the differences in displacement vectors against the other datasets. The research shows the effectiveness of GIS enabled displacement vectors analysis to elicit spatial differences in climate patterns among GCM data and reanalysis data. While temperature data were used in the case study, the proposed method is based on concepts applicable to other isolines of geographic variables (such as isobars or isohyets). [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur)Geographic Information System (GIS) technology is rapidly evolving into a valuable tool for land surveying professionals. GIS surveying applications include land record databases, land use planning, and the compilation of historical mapping and aerial photography. A professional surveying project can include determining the location of a riparian or littoral boundary. This project shows how a professional land surveyor can utilize GIS software to solve a riparian boundary. The case study for this paper is the Lost River in Klamath County, Oregon. This research project includes historical survey data, maps, and aerial photography. The historical data are combined with current global navigation satellite system (GNSS) survey data and LiDAR imagery to solve the riparian boundary. Figure 1 shows the area of the case study. [Termes IGN] zone à risqueRésumé : (Auteur) The aim of this study is to derive environmental factors that are likely to influence malarial distribution from Nigeriasat-1 in a geographical information systems (GIS) environment and relate it to the empirical evidence of reported malarial cases in the hospitals using discriminant analysis (DA) to characterize, identify and map malarial risk zones. It is found that using a stepwise DA, Nigeriasat-1 and GIS it is possible to classify the accurately the low malarial risk zone (100%), medium and high risk zones (83.33%), with an overall accuracy of 88.9% being achieved for the study area. The results obtained were in agreement with the ground validation exercise that was carried out and the cross validation method of ‘‘leaving-one-out’ in DA function. These findings indicate that Nigeriasat-1 and GIS combined with statistical technique of DA can be utilized as a decision support tool for a precise identification of the areas warranting mitigation efforts.
