[Termes IGN] piétonRésumé : (Auteur) As populations age, more and more people have some kind of restrictions on their mobility. In order to increase the potential of mobility-impaired persons to move around and navigate independently, information on the accessibility of the environment should be supported by map services and delivered together with spatial information to their devices for personal navigation. Spatial databases for pedestrian route planning should contain more detailed information on accessibility, such as pavement surfaces, slopes, and stairs. This study examines a wide range of examples of map services in Finland in terms of the extent to which they support accessibility. The authors then provide and discuss a proposal for the information content of a geospatial database to fulfil the requirements of users with impairments. With guidelines for data content, data classification, and functionality, map information can be developed so that it is also more useful for special user groups and makes the environment more accessible for everyone. [Termes IGN] UMLRésumé : (Auteur) This paper describes a framework for modeling interdependencies between different network systems and building structures. It provides an approach for the integrated analysis of interior building utilities by describing a framework to model and simulate infrastructure interdependencies and their complex behaviors. It is a graph-based spatial model that can support use cases such as providing the location and specifications of interior utilities to a technician who wants to perform a maintenance operation. This location could be needed for maintenance or replacement, or to investigate the result of damage to the building structure on another utility network, or to estimate the effect of different maintenance operations in different locations along utilities service systems. The model accounts for two important aspects: first, the relationship between interior utilities and building elements or spaces and second, the building hierarchy structure to which the utilities network is related. A proper hierarchy of the building is developed which supports the generation of human-oriented descriptions of interior utilities, where a method for partitions of large building element and spaces as well as a method to reference a network element to another building are developed. The connection of the different utilities network systems and buildings are generated using joints, which are based on a containment relation. An example is presented which shows the effectiveness of this approach for supporting maintenance operations, as well as the independences between the maintenance operation location and the other network systems. The paper presents the data model and explains the links with current 3D building model standards. [Termes IGN] UMLRésumé : (Auteur) National mapping agencies maintain topographic data sets at different scales. Keeping the data sets consistent, for example by means of automated update propagation, requires formal knowledge on how the different data sets relate to each other. This article presents a multi-scale information model that, first, integrates the data states at the different scales and, second, formalises semantics on scale transitions. This is expressed using the Unified Modelling Language (UML) class diagrams, complemented with Object Constraint Language (OCL). Based on a requirement analysis using the needs of the Netherlands' Kadaster as case study, this article examines several modelling alternatives and selects the optimal modelling approach for a multi-scale information model for topography. The model is evaluated through a prototype database implementation. The results show that UML/OCL provides an appropriate formalism to model rich semantics on both multi-scale data content and scale transitions, which can be used for guarding consistency based on automated generalisation of updates. Further research is required to express generalisation specifications that are currently not formalised and that are only available in software code or as cartographers' knowledge.
