[Termes IGN] visualisation cartographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) The Digital Maps (Basic Geospatial Information) published since the end of July 2012 are integrated geospatial information summarizing Japan s basic land information including map information such as political and administrative districts, roads, railroads, buildings, residential area names, altitude, etc. This information is updated on a nonscheduled basis and the revised version is published. Moreover, with the use of a Geographic Information System (GIS), the user can choose to display only the necessary information, or layer the map data over other information. This paper describes the data items of Digital Maps and the basic concept of data integration. [Termes IGN] spécification de produitRésumé : (Auteur) The Geospatial Information Authority of Japan [formerly the Geographical Survey Institute of Japan] (GSI) began the publication of Digital Maps (Basic Geospatial Information) on July 30, 2012 as a survey result of vector data mainly composed of 'Digital Japan Basic Maps', the data sets of maximum-scale geospatial data covering the whole of Japan. Since Digital Maps (Basic Geospatial Information) are basically provided online, they can offer new information on a daily basis as a result of surveys that reflect major changes to the land, compared to traditional survey results. However, it is necessary to use special software in order to utilize Digital Maps (Basic Geospatial Information) as map data. So the online publishing of 'Digital Topographic Map 25000' (hereinafter referred to as 'Digital Topographic Map') began on August 30 2012 so that map information that immediately reflects major changes to the land can be used more conveniently as a survey result in a raster image file format on a 1:25,000 scale level. Using this Digital Topographic Map, maps can be created that optimize the benefits of online publication by selecting the display range and size, as well as some display colors of map symbols and representations according to the intended use of the purchasers. Another feature is the ability to always provide the latest version of map images, as the images are generated from the Digital Japan Basic Map of Japan database as soon as the order is received from the purchaser, rather than from archived images. This paper presents the concept and specifications of the 'Digital Topographic Map' as the new survey result, and an overview of the content of the development of the system being provided. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Hungary has long traditions in soil survey and mapping. Large amount of soil information is available in various dimensions and generally presented in maps, serving different purposes as to spatial and/or thematic aspects. Increasing the proportion of soil-related data has been digitally processed and organized into various spatial soil information systems (SSISs). The most current countrywide ones have been elaborated by and available at Research Institute for Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (RISSAC HAS). The existing maps, data and systems served the society for many years; however, the available data are no longer fully satisfactory for the recent needs of policy making. There were numerous initiatives for the digital processing, completion, improvement and integration of the existing soil datasets. In our paper, we briefly present the national SSISs developed and maintained by our institute and some examples are given regarding how their functionality was extended by digital soil mapping for the solution of specific soil-related demands. [Termes IGN] WebSIGRésumé : (Auteur) The reduction of untouched areas and the increase in residential, agricultural and industrial areas have gained speed in recent decades. As a result of the changes, one can often observe the disappearance of landmarks that had been connected to production, habitation and transportation. The first step for the preservation of landmarks is their identification and inventorization. In the ordinary sense of the word, ‘landmarks’ mean the important landscape heritage of national history and culture, which need to be identified, protected and preserved for future generations. The purpose of the TÉKA project was to compile a landmark cadastral register that will contribute to the preservation of landscape-related and cultural heritage in Hungary. The landmark cadastral is a Wikipedia-like GIS-based web site. One of the novelties of the TÉKA database is that the data obtained from various sources are gathered in a common, online GIS and integrated into a uniform meta database. [Termes IGN] théorie des graphesRésumé : (auteur) This paper addresses the creation and maintenance of partitions of city surfaces for mapping and transportation applications. It proposes a hierarchical spatial surface partitioning, encoding the spatial partition with a 2D arrangement and structuring a generic hierarchy of semantic objects with a directed acyclic graph (DAG), in which the leaves point to the partition elements (polygonal regions, line strings, points). Semantic objects such as buildings, sidewalks and roads are described by grouping other objects and partition elements with their semantic relationships. In the proposed generic data model, geometry and spatial relationships of the semantic objects are respectively described by the geometry and topology of the planar partition. The proposed geometric data structure for creating and maintaining this partition is a 2D arrangement. In addition, the hierarchical object model encodes the thematic and semantic relationships between the objects. Besides the data model, methods and algorithms are discussed for leveraging existing vector datasets to create and maintain such partitions. These partitions are then fit to further processing and analysis using computational geometry and graph theory algorithms. For this purpose, three application-wise generic algorithms were integrated into our system called Streetmaker: two skeleton operators for centerline generation (straight skeleton and medial axis) and connectivity graphs for itinerary calculations. Moreover, specific algorithms can be integrated into Streetmaker for specific applications. We demonstrated an example usage of this framework for generating static obstacle avoiding pedestrian network graphs. The representation of the network graph and the process used to generate it, can be considered as the second contribution of our work besides the proposed data model.
