Compared with traditional census data, population data obtained from mobile phone data has high availability and high real-time performance. However, the spatial distribution of base stations is uneven, and the service boundaries remain uncertain, which brings significant challenges to the accuracy of dasymetric population mapping. This paper proposes a Grid Voronoi method to provide reliable spatial boundaries for base stations and to build a subsequent regression based on mobile phone and building use data. The results show that the Grid Voronoi method gives high fitness in building use regression, and further comparison between the traditional ordinary least squares (OLS) regression model and geographically weighted regression (GWR) model indicates that the building use data can well reflect the heterogeneity of urban geographic space. This method provides a relatively convenient and reliable idea for capturing high-precision population distribution, based on mobile phone and building use data. Po plain represents a hydrogeological system of European relevance, and the Piedmont Plain is the most important groundwater reservoir of the Region. The 1:300,000 scale map was realised using previous and new data to update the knowledge of this area. The map provides information about the hydrogeological complexes and their type and degree of permeability, water table levels and depth, piezometric level fluctuation, lithostratigraphic cross-sections, thickness, and percentage of the permeable deposits between 0 and 50 m from the ground surface. All this information is essential to public administrations, stakeholders, researchers, and professionals for defining possible tools for groundwater protection and management and for planning new groundwater exploitation (i.e. municipal drinking water supplies). [Termes IGN] Suez, canal deRésumé : (auteur) The Nile Delta is located very close to the Suez Canal, the main route for oil transport in the world, makes it prone to pollution from any accidental oil spills in the Mediterranean Sea. The coast of the Nile Delta is generally arcuate and highly exposed to waves and currents. The present study attempted to perform the environmental sensitivity of the shoreline to oil slicks. Six variables were incorporated together in order to determine the environmental sensitivity index (ESI). Data were collected from different resources and from in situ observations. Results showed that the ESI is generally high for the western section of the Nile Delta, particularly along Alexandria region. Low ESI was observed along the shorelines facing the coastal sand dunes at the middle part of the delta coast. The ESI is an effective approach to delineate the vulnerable coastal areas to marine oil pollution. [Termes IGN] symbole graphiqueRésumé : (auteur) This paper reports on a controlled experiment evaluating how different cartographic representations of risk affect participants’ performance on a complex spatial decision task: route planning. The specific experimental scenario used is oriented towards emergency route-planning during flood response. The experiment compared six common abstract and metaphorical graphical symbolizations of risk. The results indicate a pattern of less-preferred graphical symbolizations associated with slower responses and lower-risk route choices. One mechanism that might explain these observed relationships would be that more complex and effortful maps promote closer attention paid by participants and lower levels of risk taking. Such user considerations have important implications for the design of maps and mapping interfaces for emergency planning and response. The data also highlights the importance of the ‘right decision, wrong outcome problem’ inherent in decision-making under uncertainty: in individual instances, more risky decisions do not always lead to worse outcomes. [Termes IGN] prévision météorologiqueRésumé : (auteur) This paper presents the results of the analysis of more than 150 different printed newspaper weather forecasting maps, representing 91 global, national, regional and local daily news periodicals from 33 countries in 4 continents. The classification attention focused both on the character of the localizing background layer of the analysed maps as well as on the meteorological thematic layer. The results identify 12 types of background localizing maps and 47 used types of presentation of meteorological forecast information, only 19 of which were used repeatedly in more than one newspaper. All the findings were documented on comparable cartographic models. Conclusions suitable for practical applications are demonstrated in the discussion.
