[Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) For geographical applications such as run-off models, 3D visualisation, simulations and visibility analysis, information on terrain relief is necessary. Basically, a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) consists of a limited point sampling of the real world. In order to reconstruct the continuous surface from the sample points, interpolation remains a crucial task. The author considers current issues in DTM generation and interpolation technology in relation to ongoing developments in information technology and increasing user demand for DTMS. [Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) A research project at the department of Remote Sensing and Landscape Information Systems deals with the potential of 3D landscape models for the development of quantitative visual impact assessment parameters. The models were based on photogrammetric measurements from aerial photographs on one hand and auxiliary spatial data from different data pools on the other hand. The measurements were taken with an analytical plotter (ZEISS P3) which was connected to a CADprogramme (Bentley MicroStation). The measurements included the landsurface as well as surfaces of different forest stands, roads, single trees and houses. Objects close to the planned impacts (powerlines) were measured, the other objects were modelled based on auxiliary spatial data. The planned powerlines were also modelled with MicroStation. In contrast to photographic layout manipulations, this method is based on 3D data. That allows to visualise the impact on the landscape from each position within the model and to calculate quantitative parameters like sensitivity of the landscape, visibility of the impact, etc. on a solid 3D geometric basis. There were two categories of parameters derived from the model. The first was used to assess the sensitivity of the landscape to possible impacts. The other category is used to quantify the impact. [Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) The spatial variability of elevation errors in high-resolution digital elevation models (DEMs) derived from stereo-image processing is examined. Error models are developed and evaluated by examining the correlation between various DEM parameters and the magnitude of the observed DEM vertical error. DEM vertical errors were estimated using a dataset of more than 51000 points of known elevation obtained from a kinematic global positioning satellite (GPS) ground survey. Elevation variability and the quality of the stereo-correlation match over small spatial scales were the dominant factors that determined the magnitude of the DEM error at any given location. The error models are strongly correlated with the magnitude of the DEM vertical error and are shown to adequately represent the full range of the observed error. The error models are used to estimate the magnitude of the vertical error for every point in the DEMs. The models are then used to predict the overall error in the DEMs. The results demonstrate that the error models can accurately quantify and predict the spatial variability of the DEM error. [Termes IGN] visualisation 3DRésumé : (Auteur) The automation of feature extraction from digital imagery is the most challenging task facing those working today in photogrammetry research and development. Unsolved so far is the fully automatic and reliable detection and reconstruction of objects. There are solutions available for the automation of specific tasks under certain restrictions, but all methods show deficiencies when faced with poor image quality. Occlusions and shadows are factors which frequently prevent high success rates. One current practice involves a semiautomatic approach, a human operator being employed for the extremely difficult interpretation tasks. The authors present an overview of inJECT, a semiautomatic building extraction system. This system, developed by INPHO in cooperation with the Institute of Photogrammetry at the University of Bonn, offers a set of building primitives covering the most common basic house shapes. Automated modules assist the human operator in the measuring phase. The system does not require stereo viewing and operators need only a short course of training.
