[Termes IGN] transformation de HoughRésumé : (Auteur) Creating three dimensional (3D) models of a real urban objects is an important goal in a wide variety of applications. This paper describes a method that utilizes airborne laser elevation images and aerial images for the 3-D reconstruction of urban objects. Our modeling approach uses the vertical geometric pattern analysis of elevation images. These pattern correspond to object contours and, thus enable the extraction of the object. In addition, to provide realistic textured details, textures are cut from aerial images and mapped onto 3-D models. Our textures-mapping approach can avoid geometry mismatching and enable the automatic registration to determine the most reliable correspondence between projected outlines of 3-D models and contours of real objects shown in aerial images. Edge pairs, which are matched with projected outlines, are detected from aerial images. In order to minimize mismatching, we apply the voting technique based on the generalized Hough transform. Experimental results show that 3-D reconstruction of urban objects generally successful. [Termes IGN] photographie à grande échelleRésumé : (Auteur) A fast growing world population, expansion in urban, suburban and rural regions and steadily increasing human activity on land all contribute to the call for more detailed, diverse and current geo-information in its full spatial and time dimensions. This strengthens the role of photogrammetry, especially in its high potential for geo-information production from large scale, high-resolution images. The author focuses on factors affecting the effectiveness of this production process. [Termes IGN] précision de localisationRésumé : (Auteur) An empirical investigation into the effects of JPEG compression on the accuracy of photogrammetric point determination (PPD) is described. A pair of black-and-white aerial photographs of a city, taken at a scale of 1:8000, was selected and scanned at a resolution of 25 m. Eighteen image points were measured with the ISDM module of an Intergraph digital photogrammetric workstation (DPW), and the bundle adjustment of a single model was performed using WuGAPSsGps (Wuhan GPSsupported bundle block adjustment software). In processing various JPEG compressed images with Q-factors from I to 100, the accuracy of the 3D coordinates of the pass points was assessed and compared with that obtained from the original images (i.e., without compression). The empirical results show that, when the compression ratios are under 10, the compressed image is near-lossless. In other words, the visual quality of JPEG compressed images is still excellent and the accuracy of manual image mensuration is essentially not influenced. However, no indication can be found from the results that a compression of 10 is the critical value or the optimum compression level for PPD. Indeed, it is clear that the degradation of accuracy in PPD is almost linear. [Termes IGN] stéréoscopieRésumé : (Auteur) The rational function model (RFM) is an alternative sensor model allowing users to perform photogrammetric processing. The RFM has been used as a replacement sensor model in some commercial photogrammetric systems due to its capability of maintaining the accuracy of the physical sensor models and its generic characteristic of supporting sensor-independent photogrammetric processing. With RFM parameters provided, end users are able to perform photogrammetric processing including ortho-rectification, 3D reconstruction, and DEM generation with an absence of the physical sensor model. In this research, we investigate two methods for RFM-based 3D reconstruction, the inverse RFM method and the forward RFM method. Detailed derivations of algorithmic procedure are described. The emphasis is placed on the comparison of these two reconstruction methods. Experimental results show that the foward RFM can achieve a better reconstruction accuracy. Finally, real Ikonos stereo pairs were employed to verify the applicability and the performance of the reconstruction method.
