[Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) The dimensions of building façades and window apertures are usually determined by making direct measurements using tapes and plummets. This approach, however, has a number of drawbacks including the physical risk to which the persons making the measurements are exposed. This paper proposes an indirect approach based on close range photogrammetry that is inexpensive, simple, fast and safe, and which does not require specialist staff or direct ground control measurements. The method is based on taking a picture using a digital camera and measuring the distance to the object using a handheld laser distance meter. Both items of equipment are mounted on a specially designed support that allows the laser distance meter to move independently of the camera. [Termes IGN] visibilitéRésumé : (Auteur) Least visible path analysis is a basic function in terrain visibility analysis. However, current least visible path planning is constrained to least-cost path computing on a cost surface obtained from visibility information of all the terrain points on digital elevation models. This kind of method ignores the visibility correlation caused by the overlapped part of the adjacent points' reverse viewsheds. With regard to such a correlation, this paper proposes a new method using the amalgamation of reverse viewsheds to find an optimal path with the minimal visibility dominance. Both methods are implemented using C++ programming, and the experimental results show that the new method produces more accurate least visible paths than the traditional one does. [Termes IGN] relief sous-marinRésumé : (Auteur) Four maps of a reef ecosystem were created using two levels of both spatial and thematic resolution commonly used in science and management applications. Differences among maps were quantified using ecologically meaningful landscape indices. The objective was to inform research and management activities that are based on maps of reef ecosystems. Results indicate that inferences regarding the structure and organization of reef ecosystems are sensitive to changes in resolution of the maps characterizing them. Hard bottom, sand, and patchy features were the most sensitive to change in map resolution whereas continuous seagrass beds and linear reef features were not. [Termes IGN] VidéogrammétrieRésumé : (Auteur) A monitoring system that uses applied geomatics techniques, including videogrammetry and terrestrial laser scanning, has been developed in order to investigate the dynamic behaviour of as-built membrane roof structures. To accommodate the problems involved in measuring such roof structures, examples of which include uniform surface texture and unreachable height, the system adopts a non-contact targeting methodology to substitute for traditional control techniques. In-house software was developed for processing the acquired video imagery in order to produce a sequential surface model of the membrane. This paper firstly reports on experiments conducted to demonstrate that the monitoring system was capable of measuring representative test structures with a precision of better than +1 mm. To prove the feasibility and transferability of the system, videogrammetric monitoring campaigns were subsequently performed at a real-world test site where two different types of membrane structure were observed. The sequential 3D surface models that were generated allowed the displacement of the membrane surfaces to be investigated over a period, during which the range of the movement reached over 20 mm. The information acquired from the system is proving to be of great value to structural engineers involved in research and development of such membrane structures.
