[Termes IGN] tomographieRésumé : (Auteur) The application of a maximum a posteriori estimation method for microwave imaging that makes use of a Markov random field (MRF) a priori statistical model is presented in this paper. In particular, the MRF family adopted is generalized for complex profiles, characterized by a quadratic energy function and "modified" such to make it possible to statistically represent spatial interactions between real and imaginary parts. Thanks to its peculiarities, the use of this approach simultaneously favors in many cases well posedness and robustness against local minima occurrence, as well as high quality in the reconstructed images. Numerical results show the performance of the method. [Termes IGN] Triangulated Irregular NetworkRésumé : (Auteur) GIS applications have recently begun to emerge on the Internet. The management of threedimensional geographic datasets in this distributed environment poses a particularly challenging problem, which highlights the need for a good data representation. This paper presents a new multiresolution data representation: the Wavelet Triangulated Irregular Network (WTIN). Compared to the traditional cellbased Digital Elevation Model (DEM) format and the Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) format, it is more compact and suitable for scalable distributed GIS services. This format is based on the second generation wavelet theory and is specially designed for geographical height field data. The modified Butterfly scheme is used for constructing the wavelet transform. For every point in the geographic surface, only a single wavelet coefficient is used, which makes the final data representation very efficient and easy to compress. Because the transform used in the data representation is a linear filter operation, the computational efficiency is better than other multiresolution data formats for terrain surfaces. Results from numerical experiments on real data are given to demonstrate that the proposed data representation can be efficiently implemented. The results show that the proposed WTIN data format can provide multiresolution data sets, which achieve significant compression while preserving geographical features. The quality is found to be quite acceptable for geographical terrain representation. [Termes IGN] variogrammeRésumé : (Auteur) The development and testing of two techniques of texture analysis based on different mathematical tools : the semivariogram and the Fourier spectra, are presented. These are also compared against a benchmark approach : the GrayLevel Cooccurrence Matrix. The three methods and their implementation are briefly described. Three series of experiments have been prepared to test the performance of these methods in various classification contexts. These contexts are simulated by vaiying the number, type and visual likeness of the texture patches used in classification tests. More specifically, their ability to correctly classify, separate, and associate texture patches is assessed. Results suggest that the classification context has an important impact on performance rates of all methods. The variogram-based and the GrayTone Dependency Matrix methods were generally superior, each one in particular contexts.
