Elle prend ses racines, faut-il le rappeler, dans l'aérophotographie stéréoscopique qui a ouvert la voie à la photogrammétrie et à la photo-interprétation géologique. Son essor, depuis plusieurs décennies est dû à la formidable évolution technologique associée à la conquête de l'Espace. Cet ouvrage explique à partir d'exemples d'opérations et de recherches associant le traitement numérique à l'expertise du spécialiste, comment l'œil et le cerveau humains peuvent extraire et utiliser l'information acquise dans le domaine de la géologie appliquée et de la pros-pection des ressources du sous-sol. Ces exemples sont choisis dans des contextes géologiques et des conditions climatiques variés tant les spécificités régionales condi--tionnent la mise en œuvre des techniques des méthodes d'exploitation et la qualité des résultats. [Termes IGN] transformation de FourierIndex. décimale : 24.20 Traitement du signal Résumé : (Editeur) : Les techniques numériques en traitement du signal offrent de grandes possibilités telles que la conception rigoureuse des systèmes, une grande stabilité de leurs caractéristiques en exploitation et une remarquable facilité de supervision. Néanmoins les outils numériques de traitement du signal présentent un certain degré d'abstraction et leur application aux cas concrets requiert des connaissances théoriques plus familières au chercheur qu'à l'étudiant ou à l'ingénieur non spécialiste, et qui peuvent faire obstacle à leur utilisation. L'objectif de "Traitement du signal sous Matlab" est de résoudre cette difficulté et de faciliter ainsi l'accès aux techniques numériques en reliant la théorie et la pratique. Les développements théoriques ont été ainsi réduits à ce qui est nécessaire pour une bonne compréhension et une application correcte des résultats. Matlab, logiciel interactif de simulation destiné nau traitement des séquences numériques, sert de support à la résolution de nombreux exercices. Différents domaines du traitement du signal sont explorés : les séquences numériques (déterministes et aléatoires), la convolution, le filtrage, l'analyse spectrale, les méthodes temps-fréquences, la théorie de la décision, la modulation, le traitement multicadence.
