[Termes IGN] Vienne (capitale Autriche)Résumé : (Auteur) In this study, we use a technique referred to as Gaussian decomposition for processing and calibrating data acquired with a novel small-footprint airborne laser scanner that digitises the complete waveform of the laser pulses scattered back from the Earth's surface. This paper presents the theoretical basis for modelling the waveform as a series of Gaussian pulses. In this way the range, amplitude, and width are provided for each pulse. Using external reference targets it is also possible to calibrate the data. The calibration equation takes into account the range, the amplitude, and pulse width and provides estimates of the backscatter cross-section of each target. The applicability of this technique is demonstrated based on RIEGL LMS-Q560 data acquired over the city of Vienna. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, the concept of point-like coherent scatterers (CSs) in urban areas is introduced. The detection of CSs in single and quad-polarized images is addressed and applied on polarimetric and interferometric high-resolution airborne SAR data at L-band. For the detection of CSs two different approaches are proposed and their individual performance is analyzed. The properties of the detected CSs and their polarimetric and interferometric characteristics are assessed. The role of polarimetry on the detection of the CSs is evaluated and the potential of extracting the orientation and dielectric properties of individual CSs is finally addressed. [Termes IGN] zone polaireRésumé : (Auteur) Spaceborne single-polarization C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery is widely used to gather information about the state of the sea ice cover in the polar regions. C-band is regarded as a reasonable choice for all-season monitoring capabilities. For specific mapping tasks, however, other frequency hands can be more suitable. In the first part of this paper, the summary of a literature study dealing with the utilization of L-band SAR imagery for sea ice monitoring is presented. Investigations reveal that if deformation features such as ice ridges, rubble fields, and brash ice are to be mapped, L-band radar is superior in a number of cases. The second part of this paper addresses the comparison of JERS-1 and ERS-1 SAR images that were acquired over sea ice east of Svalbard and along the east coast of Greenland. The effects of the different frequencies, polarizations, and incidence angles of the two SAR Systems are discussed. It is demonstrated that the images of both sensors complement one another in the analysis of ice conditions, resulting in a more detailed view of the sea ice cover state. [Termes IGN] température de surfaceRésumé : (Auteur) According to the reflectance spectra of various materials, this paper mainly studies the relations between inherent features indicated by different combinations of characteristic spectral bands and surface temperature for five land surface cover types in the Shanghai area. On the basis of above-analysis results, we used the built optimum regression models to retrieve surface temperature, and then the precision and feasibility of the correlation method were evaluated. Results show that a clear and high correlativity exists between characteristic spectral bands and surface temperature. The maximum error is about 2.0 K by using correlation models to estimate urban land surface temperature, and main error of retrieved temperature results from mistakenly classification and existent mixture pixels. This indicates that characteristic spectral bands can be used as a modulating parameter for the estimation of surface temperature.
