[Termes IGN] polarimétrie radarRésumé : (Auteur) Orthorectification using digital terrain models is a key issue for full-polarimetric complex SAR data because resampling the complex data can corrupt the polarimetric phase, mainly in terrain with relief. This research thus compared two methods for the orthorectification of the complex SAR data: The polarimetric processing is performed before (image-space method) or after (ground-space method) the geometric processing. Radarsat-2 fine-quad data acquired with different look angles over a hilly relief study site were orthorectified using accurate light detection and ranging digital surface model. Quantitative evaluations between the two methods as a function of different geometric and radiometric parameters were thus performed to evaluate the impact during orthorectification. The results demonstrated that the look angles and the terrain slopes can potentially corrupt the polarimetric complex SAR data during its orthorectification with the ground-space method. In addition, general advice is provided to reduce these impacts to an acceptable level for the users and their polarimetric applications. [Termes IGN] transformation de coordonnéesRésumé : (Auteur) The topographic mapping products of airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) are usually required in the national coordinates (i.e., using the national datum and a conformal map projection). Since the spatial scale of the national datum is usually slightly different from the World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS 84) datum, and the map projection frame is not Cartesian, the georeferencing process in the national coordinates is inevitably affected by various geometric distortions. In this paper, all the major direct georeferencing distortion factors in the national coordinates, including one 3D scale distortion (the datum scale factor distortion), one height distortion (the earth curvature distortion), two length distortions (the horizontal-to-geodesic length distortion and the geodesic-to-projected length distortion), and three angle distortions (the skew-normal distortion, the normal-section-to-geodesic distortion, and the arc-to-chord distortion) are identified and demonstrated in detail; and high-precision map projection correction formulas are provided for the direct georeferencing of the airborne LiDAR data. Given the high computational complexity of the high-precision map projection correction approach, some more approximate correction formulas are also derived for the practical calculations. The simulated experiments show that the magnitude of the datum scale distortion can reach several centimeters to decimeters for the low (e.g., 500 m) and high (e.g., 8000 m) flying heights, and therefore it always needs to be corrected. Our proposed practical map projection correction approach has better accuracy than Legat’s approach,1 but it needs 25% more computational cost. As the correction accuracy of Legat’s approach can meet the requirements of airborne LiDAR data with low and medium flight height (up to 3000 m above ground), our practical correction approach is more suitable to the high-altitude aerial imagery. The residuals of our proposed high-precision map projection correction approach are trivial even for the high flight height of 8000 m. It can be used for the theoretical applications such as the accurate evaluation of different GPS/INS attitude transformation methods to the national coordinates. [Termes IGN] transformation de FourierRésumé : (Auteur) In a context of mobile environment mapping, a vehicle-based radar system, K2Pi, has been developed. A mapping of the environment is carried out from the radar datasets. Given the specificities of radar maps, the main problem at this stage is to find a method to georeference these maps. This article proposes three radar map georeferencing methods. The first method is a typical manual selection of a set of control point pairs. The second method consists of matching the relative trajectory computed by a specific radar algorithm with a trajectory recorded from absolute DGPS recording. Finally, the third method, inspired by the image-to-image approach, is based on Fourier-Mellin transform which automatically registers the radar map with respect to a georeferenced aerial photograph. Successfully tested on radar datasets, this method could be applied to many other types of data. Due to the unavoidable drift and biases of the inertial sensors (gyros and accelerometers), these systems have to be augmented by additional sensors in accordance with the dead reckoning. With the development of the laser gyro with which the highest accuracy can be achieved, and powerful computers also the development of the strap-down systems started which replaced more and more the former platform systems. Another milestone in the field of navigation was the development of GNSS, which is ideal for coupling with INS systems using the Kalman filter technique. With these hybrid navigation systems, a direct georeferencing of photogrammetric image and scanner data is possible. At the University of Applied Sciences Bochum different systems for aerial flights and for use in land vehicles have been developed in recent years. The latest developments in the field of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) have been affected in the past the development of inertial sensors and the augmentation sensors as well. Although these sensors do not reach the high accuracies of their predecessors, they are inexpensive and of light weight. The development of these sensors in conjunction with powerful microcontrollers led recently to the rapidly growing use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for photogrammetric applications. Especially the so-called Multicopter, which are able to rise vertically and hover over a point are an ideal platform for photogrammetric sensors. In this paper, the various sensors and inertial navigation systems and developments for navigation and control as well as for photogrammetric applications and direct georeferencing, which requires a special calibration method for determining the relative position and orientation of the various sensors, are presented. [Termes IGN] restauration d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) In the traditional processing flow of interferometric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technique, the processing of phase is conducted via two separated and successive steps, i.e., phase denoising and phase unwrapping. That is to say, first, wrapped phases without noise are generated, and then, the true phases without 2?-ambiguities are reconstructed (here and in the rest of this paper, true phase refers to the information-induced unwrapped phase without noise). Such separated steps will inevitably bring in extra estimation error because each step has necessary approximations and presumptions which do not always hold. On the contrary, in this paper, we treat phase denoising and unwrapping as a single problem of true phase recovery from observed ones. Following this methodology, an integrated phase denoising and unwrapping algorithm based upon Markov random fields (MRFs) is proposed. Taking a priori knowledge of interferometric phases into account, MRF is used to model the relationship between the elements in the random variable set including both true phases and their observations. After the model is built up, the energy function of this MRF is defined according to the local-independence property inferred from the MRF structure and then minimized to obtain the estimate of the true phase value. In the end of this paper, experiments on simulated and true phase data are conducted, and the comparison with several commonly used unwrapping methods is proposed to verify the efficiency of the proposed MRF algorithm.
