[Termes IGN] séismeRésumé : (Auteur) An geodesy study bas been carried out, using pre- and post-event Landsat-7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM +) images, to reveal regional co-seismic displacement caused by the Ms 8.1 Kunlun earthquake in November 2001. The two Landsat scenes, Kusai Lake and Buka Daban, cover an area of some 57600km (320km W-E and about 180km N-S), which includes most of the fault rupture zone. The co-seismic displacement measured in the Kusai Lake scene shows that the average left-lateral shift along the Kunlun fault is 4.8m (ranging from 1.5 to 8.1 m) and the maximum shift appears west of the Kusai Lake. The splayed nature of the fault to the west of Buka Daban, where the fault splits into three branches, causes the displacement pattern to become complicated. Here the average left-lateral shift, between the south side of the southern branch and the north side of the northern branch, is 4.6m (ranging from 1.0 to 8.2m). Our results also illustrate that the south side of the fault is the 'active' block, moving significantly in an east-south-easterly direction, relative to the largely 'stable' northern block. [Termes IGN] stéréoscopieRésumé : (Auteur) HRS instrument on board of SPOT 5 allows acquisition of stereoscopic pairs in a single pass. Its final purpose is to provide the worldwide database of Digital Terrain Models and Orthoimages, called ReferenceSD®, with no use of ground control points and a horizontal location specified as 16 m for 90% of the points. The stake is not only to fulfil the HRS' location specification of 50 m in root mean square but to obtain a location performance as best as possible and to check that the instrument can cope with the realisation of the ReferenceSD® database. That's why HRS has been the subject of specific attention even after the end of SPOT 5 in-flight commissioning phase.
This comprehensive paper summarizes the steps jointly taken by CNES, IGN, Spot Image and HRS end-users to calibrate, monitor and validate the HRS image accuracy as well as the accuracy of the final DEM products. First, an overview of HRS on SPOT 5 will be given, with a specific attention paid to the instrument geometry and rigorous sensor model available through ancillary data given with the images. Then, methods and means used by the French Space Agency (CNES) and the French Mapping Agency (IGN) to reach the objectives will be described and the final accuracy reached will be given. It concems: 1-- calibration and monitoring of the HRS geometrical parameters, and the several on board improvements brought to the satellite by CNES to improve the location accuracy at the single pair level (i.e. no tie points nor ground control points used); 2-- the HRS block adjustment model calibration and the evaluation performed by IGN at the stereo pair level (i.e with tie points used within the pair) and block level (with tie points used between different HRS strips). Finally, the article deals with several comparisons of HRS DEM's against available DEMs (eg. SRTM DTED level 2) and also reviews various evaluations of the HRS and the ReferenceSD® products made by independent users against ground truth issued from field measurements or high quality/high scale geodata. [Termes IGN] restauration d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) Images that are collected for mapping purposes from airborne or space-borne sensors have to cover large areas by great image swaths at a high spatial resolution. These demands can be fulfilled by push-broom scanners featuring staggered line arrays, which are constructed from two identical CCD lines shifted against each other by half a pixel in line direction. Practical applications of such arrays in remote sensing include SPOT, and in the airborne environment the Airborne Digital Sensor, or ADS40, from Leica Geosystems. Furthermore, image restoration methods for enhancing the image quality can be applied to improve image quality and resolution. This paper presents an approach of high resolution image restitution from staggered lines and practical results with ADS40 high resolution panchromatic images.
