[Termes IGN] simplification de contourRésumé : (Auteur) An automatic method for the regularisation of building outlines is presented, utilising a combination of data‐ and model‐driven approaches to provide a robust solution. The core part of the method includes a novel data‐driven approach to generate approximate building polygons from a list of given boundary points. The algorithm iteratively calculates and stores likelihood values between an arbitrary starting boundary point and each of the following boundary points using a function derived from the geometrical properties of a building. As a preprocessing step, building segments have to be identified using a robust algorithm for the extraction of a digital elevation model. Evaluation results on a challenging dataset achieved an average correctness of 96·3% and 95·7% for building detection and regularisation, respectively. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3D du bâtiRésumé : (Auteur) This study proposes a new method for repeated structure detection and the three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of building façades from mobile lidar data. Firstly, the building façade is divided and unrolled to simplify the complex façade structures, improving the automation of structure detection and building reconstruction. Subsequently, the unrolled façade is decomposed into tiles by analyzing the repeated structures. Tiles with strong similarities are matched and merged to restore the imperfect façade points. Based on the restored points and repeated structures, a 3D building façade can be reconstructed with a complete structure and fine detail. An analysis is conducted to compare the constructed 3D model with the lidar points of actual façade. The results of this analysis demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively deal with missing areas caused by occlusion, viewpoint limitation, and uneven point density, as well as realizing the highly complete 3D reconstruction of a building façade. Note de contenu : 1- Etat de l'Art

[Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) Commercial aerial laser scanning is generally delivered with point-by-point metadata for object identification, but current vendor-generated classification approaches (which rely exclusively on that data) generate high misclassification rates in urban areas. To overcome this problem and provide a fully scalable solution that harnesses distributed computing capabilities, this paper introduces a novel system, employing a MapReduce framework and existing GIS-based data, to provide more detailed and accurate classification. The approach goes beyond traditional gross-level classification (roads, buildings, trees, noise) by enriching the point cloud metadata with detailed semantic information about the object type. The approach was evaluated using two datasets of differing point density, separated by eight years for the same study area in Dublin, Ireland. As evaluated against manually classified data, classification quality ranged from 76% to 91% depending upon category and only 8% remained unclassified, as opposed to the commercial vendor's classification quality which ranged from 43% to 78% with 82% left unclassified. [Termes IGN] télédétection spatialeRésumé : (Editeur) Without a doubt, understanding what we must do to save our home, our planet, and how we are to do it is of the gravest importance for the present generation and the next. Clearly, advances won through space technology and applications of the same to the study of Earth play an excellent and vital role in classification and interpretation of the processes taking place on the Earth and in space. Today, space technology helps us understand Earth and how we can support and manage its state, to keep it in working condition under the current circumstances. How can we do this? Obviously, we must use appropriate methods and instruments to collect the information we need. In the meantime, it is necessary to develop systems to analyze and process the data collected.
