[Termes IGN] placement automatique des écrituresRésumé : (Auteur) Lettering is of prime importance for maps, but positioning is a time-consuming process which may account for up to 50% of the map-editing. This paper addresses the main parameters that lead positioning, and the problems entailed. Then an approach for automated road administrative name-placement is presented which takes into account these problems. We have implemented a research system which follows this approach. The results achieved so far indicate that the problem modeling we used allows to meet high quality requirements.
