[Termes IGN] Ultra Léger MotoriséRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a method to integrate linear horizontal, vertical and right-angled scene structures into the bundle adjustment of image sequences. An increasing number of airborne image acquisition systems is available and equipped with non-metric small- or medium-frame cameras and no or insufficiently accurate INS devices. In cases where the data is to be used for the production of geo-spatial data, where a certain accuracy and precision is required, an indirect sensor orientation, possibly including self-calibration, needs to be performed. The idea which led to the presented approach is to reduce the number of GCPs necessary for this task by applying the mentioned scene structures. The method directly uses the linear structures, visible at man-made objects as fictive observations within the adjustment, while self-calibration of intrinsic camera parameters and lens distortion is included as well. Experiments with two datasets demonstrate that, through this method, only limited GCP information is required to obtain satisfactory results. In fact, in one experiment using oblique images, several scene constraints were provided and only the datum was defined by ground control. The residuals at check points from this setup were similar to the traditional case where several well-distributed GCPs were available in the scene. In the second experiment the ability of this approach to support the bundle adjustment was shown for a UAV dataset. Although no GCP and camera calibration information was available, the visual inspection of adjusted object points and the residuals at horizontal structures confirmed the ability of the method to align an image block with the structure, as embodied in the defined scene constraints. Despite the convincing outcome of the experiments, it needs to be mentioned that some manual work is still involved in defining the constraints. In future work the issue of automation will be addressed. [Termes IGN] superposition d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) With respect to the inevitable mis-registration and shadow effects on change detection analysis, we propose object-based post-classification of the Multivariate Alteration Detection components (ob-mad). Very high spatial resolution images of drained, managed wetland ponds were used to compare the proposed OB-MAD method with three commonly used classification methods in terms of minimizing the influence of mis-registration and shadow on the change detection analysis: (a) the traditional mad method with thresholds (Threshold-MAD), (b) a pixel-based post-classification of mad components with decision tree analysis (PB-MAD), and (c) a traditional object-based post-classification method (OB-traditional). The OB-MAD method, which utilizes shape and textural information of objects derived from MAD components, produced the highest accuracy with respect to wetland change detection and successfully minimized the influence from the geometric distortion and shadow on the changed area. [Termes IGN] photogrammétrie terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) There are increasing opportunities to use consumer-grade digital cameras, particularly if accurate spatial data can be captured. Research recently conducted at Loughborough University identified residual systematic error surfaces or domes discernible in digital elevation models (DEMs). These systematic effects are often associated with such cameras and are caused by slightly inaccurate estimated lens distortion parameters. A methodology that minimises the systematic error surfaces was therefore developed, using a mildly convergent image configuration in a vertical perspective. This methodology was tested through simulation and a series of practical tests. This paper investigates the potential of the convergent configuration to minimise the error surfaces, even if the geometrically more complex oblique perspective is used. Initially, simulated data was used to demonstrate that an oblique convergent image configuration can minimise remaining systematic error surfaces using various imaging angles. Additionally, practical tests using a laboratory testfield were conducted to verify results of the simulation. The need to develop a system to measure the topographic surface of a flooding river provided the opportunity to verify the findings of the simulation and laboratory test using real data. Results of the simulation process, the laboratory test and the practical test are reported in this paper and demonstrate that an oblique convergent image configuration eradicates the systematic error surfaces which result from inaccurate lens distortion parameters. This approach is significant because by removing the need for an accurate lens model it effectively improves the accuracies of digital surface representations derived using consumer-grade digital cameras. Carefully selected image configurations could therefore provide new opportunities for improving the quality of photogrammetrically acquired data.
