[Termes IGN] transformation linéaire directeRésumé : (Auteur) Very high resolution optical space images are coming more and more into competition to classical aerial images making them more important for mapping projects. The orientation process of the dominating CCD-line scanner images taken from space is quite different from the orientation of perspective photos. Different image products like nearly original images and images projected to a plane with constant height are available, this requires corresponding orientation solutions. All optical satellites are equipped with direct sensor orientation based on a positioning system, gyros and star sensors, so they can estimate the orientation parameters. For IKONOS, QuickBird and OrbView-3, this can be made without control points with a standard deviation of the ground coordinates in the range of 10 m and better. The orientation information is available as view direction from the scene centre or start of scene or as ephemeris and as rational polynomial coefficients (RPCs). This allows the determination of the scene orientation by geometric reconstruction or bias corrected RPCs using control points. In addition approximations like 3D-affine transformation, direct linear transformation and terrain related RPCs are in use. The accuracy of the methods is compared in relation to the number and distribution of the control points and the limitations of the approximations are investigated. The approximations of the orientations by 3D affine transformation and direct linear transformation can only handle images projected to a plane with constant height like IKONOS and QuickBird or Standard. For original images they are not leading to acceptable accuracy. In any case they require more and three-dimensional well distributed control points. [Termes IGN] pouvoir de résolution géométriqueRésumé : (Auteur) The present article reports the results of an extensive empirical evaluation of spatial resolution of a digital large format Intergraph DMC sensor. The parameters of the study were flight direction, ground sample distance (GSD) and the distance from the image center. The key finding of the study was that the resolution of the DMC panchromatic large-format image was clearly dependent on the distance from the image center. One reason for this behavior is that the DMC large-format image is composed of four oblique images; the resolution of the oblique images is reduced towards the image border due to the scale reduction and projective distortion. From the image pixel size of 12 um of DMC, a nominal resolving power value (RP) 84 lines/mm can be derived. Maximal resolution reduction factors in the image comers, caused by the image tilt, were 1.6 in the cross-flight direction and 1.4 in the flight direction. The distance from the image center did not appear to affect the resolution of the low-resolution multi-spectral images looking towards nadir. The observed MTFs indicated attractive behavior. The A WAR values of the panchromatic images were between 61 and 71 lines/mm, which is 1.2-1.4 times the nominal RP-value. Other important findings were the effects of GSD and flight direction on the resolution; these properties evidently characterize the behavior of the entire photogrammetric system tested. The image restoration by a linear restoring finite impulse response filter provided a constant resolution improvement factor of 1.4. [Termes IGN] prise de vue terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we address the orientation of ground-level motion imagery captured by sensors roaming in an urban area. We investigate the use of building façades (instead of traditional points), as matching features for ground-level motion imagery orientation. We assume a situation where few images in our sequence are already absolutely oriented, and present a novel approach to orient all remaining in between image sequences relative to them. This innovative version of dependent orientation allows us to propagate orientation information within sequences of ground level imagery, establishing a novel orientation scheme. Experimental results show accuracies on the order of 0.18 to 0.29 degrees in rotation estimation, and 0.17 to 0.29 meters in camera position determination. [Termes IGN] reconstruction 3DRésumé : (Auteur) This paper describes the fusion of information extracted from multispectral digital aerial images for highly automatic 3D map generation. The proposed approach integrates spectral classification and 3D reconstruction techniques. The multispectral digital aerial images consist of a high resolution panchromatic channel as well as lower resolution RGB and near infrared (NIR) channels and form the basis for information extraction. Our land use classification is a 2-step approach that uses RGB and NIR images for an initial classification and the panchromatic images as well as a digital surface model (DSM) for a refined classification. The DSM is generated from the high resolution panchromatic images of a specific photo mission. Based on the aerial triangulation using area and feature-based points of interest the algorithms are able to generate a dense DSM by a dense image matching procedure. Afterwards a true ortho image for classification, panchromatic or color input images can be computed. In a last step, specific layers for buildings and vegetation are generated and the classification is updated.
