[Termes IGN] scèneRésumé : (Auteur) The performance of scene classification relies heavily on the spatial and structural features that are extracted from high spatial resolution remote-sensing images. Existing approaches, however, are limited in adequately exploiting latent relationships between scene images. Aiming to decrease the distances between intraclass images and increase the distances between interclass images, we propose a latent relationship learning framework that integrates an adaptive graph with the constraints of the feature space and label propagation for high-resolution aerial image classification. To describe the latent relationships among scene images in the framework, we construct an adaptive graph that is embedded into the constrained joint space for features and labels. To remove redundant information and improve the computational efficiency, subspace learning is introduced to assist in the latent relationship learning. To address out-of-sample data, linear regression is adopted to project the semisupervised classification results onto a linear classifier. Learning efficiency is improved by minimizing the objective function via the linearized alternating direction method with an adaptive penalty. We test our method on three widely used aerial scene image data sets. The experimental results demonstrate the superior performance of our method over the state-of-the-art algorithms in aerial scene image classification. [Termes IGN] réseau neuronal convolutifRésumé : (Auteur) As a list of remotely sensed data sources is available, how to efficiently exploit useful information from multisource data for better Earth observation becomes an interesting but challenging problem. In this paper, the classification fusion of hyperspectral imagery (HSI) and data from other multiple sensors, such as light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data, is investigated with the state-of-the-art deep learning, named the two-branch convolution neural network (CNN). More specific, a two-tunnel CNN framework is first developed to extract spectral-spatial features from HSI; besides, the CNN with cascade block is designed for feature extraction from LiDAR or high-resolution visual image. In the feature fusion stage, the spatial and spectral features of HSI are first integrated in a dual-tunnel branch, and then combined with other data features extracted from a cascade network. Experimental results based on several multisource data demonstrate the proposed two-branch CNN that can achieve more excellent classification performance than some existing methods. [Vedettes matières IGN] GénéralisationRésumé : (Auteur) Recognition of building group patterns (i.e., the arrangement and form exhibited by a collection of buildings at a given mapping scale) is important to the understanding and modeling of geographic space and is hence essential to a wide range of downstream applications such as map generalization. Most of the existing methods develop rigid rules based on the topographic relationships between building pairs to identify building group patterns and thus their applications are often limited. This study proposes a method to identify a variety of building group patterns that allow for map generalization. The method first identifies building group patterns from potential building clusters based on a machine-learning algorithm and further partitions the building clusters with no recognized patterns based on the graph partitioning method. The proposed method is applied to the datasets of three cities that are representative of the complex urban environment in Southern China. Assessment of the results based on the reference data suggests that the proposed method is able to recognize both regular (e.g., the collinear, curvilinear, and rectangular patterns) and irregular (e.g., the L-shaped, H-shaped, and high-density patterns) building group patterns well, given that the correctness values are consistently nearly 90% and the completeness values are all above 91% for three study areas. The proposed method shows promises in automated recognition of building group patterns that allows for map generalization. [Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) 3D indoor navigation in multi‐story buildings and under changing environments is still difficult to perform. 3D models of buildings are commonly not available or outdated. 3D point clouds turned out to be a very practical way to capture 3D interior spaces and provide a notion of an empty space. Therefore, pathfinding in point clouds is rapidly emerging. However, processing of raw point clouds can be very expensive, as these are semantically poor and unstructured data. In this article we present an innovative octree‐based approach for processing of 3D indoor point clouds for the purpose of multi‐story pathfinding. We semantically identify the construction elements, which are of importance for the indoor navigation of humans (i.e., floors, walls, stairs, and obstacles), and use these to delineate the available navigable space. To illustrate the usability of this approach, we applied it to real‐world data sets and computed paths considering user constraints. The structuring of the point cloud into an octree approximation improves the point cloud processing and provides a structure for the empty space of the point cloud. It is also helpful to compute paths sufficiently accurate in their consideration of the spatial complexity. The entire process is automatic and able to deal with a large number of multi‐story indoor environments. [Termes IGN] image multibandeRésumé : (Auteur) In this paper, we introduce an active learning (AL)-based object training library generation for a multiclassifier object-oriented image analysis (OOIA) system. While several AL approaches do exist for pixel-based training library generation and for hyperspectral image classification, there is no standard training library generation strategy for OOIA of very high spatial resolution images. Given a sufficient number of training samples, supervised classification is the method of choice for image classification. However, this strategy becomes computationally expensive with the increase in the number of classes or the number of images to be classified. The above-mentioned issue is solved in this proposed method, where an optimized training library of objects (superpixels) is generated based on a batch mode AL approach. A softmax classifier is used as a detector in this method, which helps in determining the right samples to be chosen for library updation. To this end, we construct a multiclassifier system with max-voting decision to classify an image at pixel level. This algorithm was applied on three different very high-resolution airborne data sets, each with varying complexity in terms of variations in geographical context, sensors, illumination, and view angles. Our method has empirically outperformed the traditional OOIA by producing equivalent accuracy with a training library that is orders of magnitude smaller. In addition, the most distinctive ability of the algorithm is experienced in the most heterogeneous data set, where its performance in terms of accuracy is around twice the performance of the traditional method in the same situation. The generality of this classification strategy is proved through its performance on multispectral images and for cross-domain application. Finally, the robustness of this method is identified by comparing its performance with an alternative AL approach-self-learning-based semisupervised SVM. The capability of the proposed method to handle highly heterogeneous data is identified as the primary reason for its robustness.
