[Termes IGN] optimisation (mathématiques)Résumé : (auteur) Due to the bird’s eye view of remote sensing sensors, the orientational information of an object is a key factor that has to be considered in object detection. To obtain rotating bounding boxes, existing studies either rely on rotated anchoring schemes or adding complex rotating ROI transfer layers, leading to increased computational demand and reduced detection speeds. In this study, we propose a novel internal-external optimized convolutional neural network for arbitrary orientated object detection in optical remote sensing images. For the internal optimization, we designed an anchor-based single-shot head detector that adopts the concept of coarse-to-fine detection for two-stage object detection networks. The refined rotating anchors are generated from the coarse detection head module and fed into the refining detection head module with a link of an embedded deformable convolutional layer. For the external optimization, we propose an IOU balanced loss that addresses the regression challenges related to arbitrary orientated bounding boxes. Experimental results on the DOTA and HRSC2016 benchmark datasets show that our proposed method outperforms selected methods. [Termes IGN] réseau neuronal siamoisRésumé : (auteur) Around 350 million hectares of land are affected by wildfires every year influencing the health of ecosystems and leaving a trail of destruction. Accurate information over burned areas (BA) is essential for governments and communities to prioritize recovery actions. Prior research over the past decades has established the potentials and limitations of space-borne earth observation for mapping BA over large geographic areas at various scales. The operational deployment of Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 constellations significantly improved the quality and quantity of the imagery from the microwave (C-band) and optical regions on the spectrum. Based on that, this study set to investigate whether the existing coarse BA products can be further improved by the synergy of optical surface reflectance (SR), radar backscatter coefficient (BS), and/or radar interferometric coherence (COR) data with higher spatial resolutions. A Siamese Self-Attention (SSA) classification strategy is proposed for the multi-sensor BA mapping and a multi-source dataset is constructed at the object level for the training and testing. Results are analyzed by test sites, feature sources, and classification strategies to appraise the improvements achieved by the proposed method. [Termes IGN] toitRésumé : (Auteur) This study focuses on tackling the challenge of building mapping in multi-modal remote sensing data by proposing a novel, deep superpixel-wise convolutional neural network called DeepQuantized-Net, plus a new red, green, blue (RGB)-depth data set named IND. DeepQuantized-Net incorporated two practical ideas in segmentation: first, improving the object pattern with the exploitation of superpixels instead of pixels, as the imaging unit in DeepQuantized-Net. Second, the reduction of computational cost. The generated data set includes 294 RGB-depth images (256 training images and 38 test images) from different locations in the state of Indiana in the U.S., with 1024 × 1024 pixels and a spatial resolution of 0.5 ftthat covers different cities. The experimental results using the IND data set demonstrates the mean F1 scores and the average Intersection over Union scores could increase by approximately 7.0% and 7.2% compared to other methods, respectively. [Termes IGN] séismeRésumé : (auteur) Previous applications of machine learning in remote sensing for the identification of damaged buildings in the aftermath of a large-scale disaster have been successful. However, standard methods do not consider the complexity and costs of compiling a training data set after a large-scale disaster. In this article, we study disaster events in which the intensity can be modeled via numerical simulation and/or instrumentation. For such cases, two fully automatic procedures for the detection of severely damaged buildings are introduced. The fundamental assumption is that samples that are located in areas with low disaster intensity mainly represent nondamaged buildings. Furthermore, areas with moderate to strong disaster intensities likely contain damaged and nondamaged buildings. Under this assumption, a procedure that is based on the automatic selection of training samples for learning and calibrating the standard support vector machine classifier is utilized. The second procedure is based on the use of two regularization parameters to define the support vectors. These frameworks avoid the collection of labeled building samples via field surveys and/or visual inspection of optical images, which requires a significant amount of time. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated via application to three real cases: the 2011 Tohoku-Oki earthquake–tsunami, the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake, and the 2018 Okayama floods. The resulted accuracy ranges between 0.85 and 0.89, and thus, it shows that the result can be used for the rapid allocation of affected buildings.
