[Vedettes matières IGN] Ecologie forestièreRésumé : (auteur) This paper provides a comparative description of the Estonian Western taiga habitat type (*9010) based on data from the national Habitat Directive Annex I forest habitat monitoring program and two regional studies. Various stand structure characteristics associated with forest representativity, continuity age, region and dominant tree species are analyzed using logistic regression and models for count data. We found that most of the studied characteristics show expressive regional differences. Many stands' traits are well associated with representativity grading and continuity age. To predict the presence of many structure characteristics, we found that it may be sufficient to know the forest's stand composition (coniferous, deciduous or mixed) instead of tree species. We conclude that the Estonian mapping and monitoring methodologies are well-suited to describing and assessing the quality of the Western taiga habitat type in Estonia. [Termes IGN] tour (bâtiment)Résumé : (auteur) A tall masonry building in an area hit by an earthquake could suffer of some damages whose detection and evaluation are necessary for both emergency management and planning of restoration works. A complete characterization of the health state of a potentially damaged structure requires an integration of data provided by several techniques, which could be impossible in earthquake emergency conditions. The duration of a seismic sequence can reach several months and the state of a tall building could change after each significant shock. Terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) allows a fast and contactless acquisition as well as an accurate geometric modeling of a building and therefore can be used to evaluate the seismic-induced changes, possibly related to damages. The results of a study based on TLS monitoring the 100-m high Asinelli tower (Bologna, Italy), which is a very important element of the Italian medieval cultural heritage, during the 2012 Emilia Romagna seismic sequence are provided and discussed here. This work focuses on both method and case study. It is aimed to show how much information, reliable and accurate, can be extracted in a quick and simple way under alert conditions. Moreover, the structural behavior of the tower is provided. Considerations about natural oscillations of a tower subjected to seismic activity are also provided. [Termes IGN] tomographie radarRésumé : (auteur) The three-dimensional (3-D) structure of forests, especially the vertical structure, is an important parameter of forest ecosystem modeling for monitoring ecological change. Synthetic aperture radar tomography (TomoSAR) provides scene reflectivity estimation of vegetation along elevation coordinates. Due to the advantages of super-resolution imaging and a small number of measurements, distribution compressive sensing (DCS) inversion techniques for polarimetric SAR tomography were successfully developed and applied. This paper addresses the 3-D imaging of forested areas based on the framework of DCS using fully polarimetric (FP) multibaseline SAR interferometric (MB-InSAR) tomography at the P-band. A new DCS-based FP TomoSAR method is proposed: a new wavelet-based distributed compressive sensing FP TomoSAR method (FP-WDCS TomoSAR method). The method takes advantage of the joint sparsity between polarimetric channel signals in the wavelet domain to jointly inverse the reflectivity profiles in each channel. The method not only allows high accuracy and super-resolution imaging with a low number of acquisitions, but can also obtain the polarization information of the vertical structure of forested areas. The effectiveness of the techniques for polarimetric SAR tomography is demonstrated using FP P-band airborne datasets acquired by the ONERA SETHI airborne system over a test site in Paracou, French Guiana. [Termes IGN] photogrammétrie terrestreRésumé : (auteur) Thanks to the high resolution of modern SAR satellites many persistent scatterers (PS) appear at single buildings. Approximately half of them represent building facades. These groups of points often show regular patterns in SAR images that can be related to repeating structure elements on the facades. Hence, individual buildings can now be monitored over time, either based on amplitude (for change detection) or phase information (using interferometric methods). However, patterns of point signatures are often disrupted or disappear when the imaging geometry is slightly changed. In addition, the localization accuracy of estimated and geocoded natural PS is not known, yet. The investigation at hand provides a detailed analysis of PS patterns based on reference data obtained from a photogrammetric survey and terrestrial measurements. The processing of the optical images allows creating a detailed 3D model of the respective facade, which represents the geometrical object information for SAR simulation. The terrestrial measurements allow relating the 3D model to its true position in a world coordinate system like UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator), which is necessary for assessing the localization accuracy of the signatures. From the simulation results the appearance of the point patterns of natural PS in high resolution SAR data can be better understood. Moreover, the localization accuracy and the precision for these points can be derived for the first time. The approach and findings for two case studies in Munich are described in detail in this paper. [Termes IGN] TrenteRésumé : (auteur) Today the use of spaceborne Very High Resolution (VHR) optical sensors for automatic 3D information extraction is increasing in the scientific and civil communities. The 3D Optical Metrology (3DOM) unit of the Bruno Kessler Foundation (FBK) in Trento (Italy) has collected VHR satellite imagery, as well as aerial and terrestrial data over Trento for creating a complete testfield for investigations on image radiometry, geometric accuracy, automatic digital surface model (DSM) generation, 2D/3D feature extraction, city modelling and data fusion. This paper addresses the radiometric and the geometric aspects of the VHR spaceborne imagery included in the Trento testfield and their potential for 3D information extraction. The dataset consist of two stereo-pairs acquired by WorldView-2 and by GeoEye-1 in panchromatic and multispectral mode, and a triplet from Pléiades-1A. For reference and validation, a DSM from airborne LiDAR acquisition is used. The paper gives details on the project, dataset characteristics and achieved results.
