[Termes IGN] similitudeRésumé : (Auteur) Several geospatial studies and applications require comprehensive semantic information from points-of-interest (POIs). However, this information is frequently dispersed across different collaborative mapping platforms. Surprisingly, there is still a research gap on the conflation of POIs from this type of geo-dataset. In this paper, we focus on the matching aspect of POI data conflation by proposing two matching strategies based on a graph whose nodes represent POIs and edges represent matching possibilities. We demonstrate how the graph is used for (1) dynamically defining the weights of the different POI similarity measures we consider; (2) tackling the issue that POIs should be left unmatched when they do not have a corresponding POI on the other dataset and (3) detecting multiple POIs from the same place in the same dataset and jointly matching these to the corresponding POI(s) from the other dataset. The strategies we propose do not require the collection of training samples or extensive parameter tuning. They were statistically compared with a “naive”, though commonly applied, matching approach considering POIs collected from OpenStreetMap and Foursquare from the city of London (England). In our experiments, we sequentially included each of our methodological suggestions in the matching procedure and each of them led to an increase in the accuracy in comparison to the previous results. Our best matching result achieved an overall accuracy of 91%, which is more than 10% higher than the accuracy achieved by the baseline method. [Termes IGN] morphologie mathématiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Numerous airborne LiDAR-derived metrics have been proposed for classifying tree species. Yet an in-depth ecological and biological understanding of the significance of these metrics for tree species mapping remains largely unexplored. In this paper, we evaluated the performance of 37 frequently used LiDAR metrics derived under leaf-on and leaf-off conditions, respectively, for discriminating six different tree species in a natural forest in Germany. We firstly assessed the correlation between these metrics. Then we applied a Random Forest algorithm to classify the tree species and evaluated the importance of the LiDAR metrics. Finally, we identified the most important LiDAR metrics and tested their robustness and transferability. Our results indicated that about 60% of LiDAR metrics were highly correlated to each other (|r| > 0.7). There was no statistically significant difference in tree species mapping accuracy between the use of leaf-on and leaf-off LiDAR metrics. However, combining leaf-on and leaf-off LiDAR metrics significantly increased the overall accuracy from 58.2% (leaf-on) and 62.0% (leaf-off) to 66.5% as well as the kappa coefficient from 0.47 (leaf-on) and 0.51 (leaf-off) to 0.58. Radiometric features, especially intensity related metrics, provided more consistent and significant contributions than geometric features for tree species discrimination. Specifically, the mean intensity of first-or-single returns as well as the mean value of echo width were identified as the most robust LiDAR metrics for tree species discrimination. These results indicate that metrics derived from airborne LiDAR data, especially radiometric metrics, can aid in discriminating tree species in a mixed temperate forest, and represent candidate metrics for tree species classification and monitoring in Central Europe. [Termes IGN] PologneRésumé : (auteur) The knowledge on forest resources is important for sustainable forest management at local and national level. The aim of this paper is to examine the efficacy of the Support Vector Machine (SVM) approach for tree cover mapping based on Sentinel-2 images and to explore the potential of the Sentinel-2 data for the assessment of tree cover. Sentinel-2 is a constellation of two European satellites providing innovative wide-swath (up to 290 km), high-resolution and multispectral data (13 spectral bands at 10, 20 and 60 m spatial resolution). The study area is located in the Forest Promotion Complex, which is a part of the Knyszyn Forest Landscape Park in Poland. The SVM classification was performed on the single images (spring and summer season) and on multi-date Sentinel-2 images (images from two dates classified simultaneously). In addition, the use of high-resolution bands and a combination of the 10 m and 20 m spatial resolution data was examined. The overall accuracy for all performed classification was very high and reached the level of 96.7%–99.6%, which con-firms that SVM classification can be successfully applied for tree cover mapping. The analysis showed that the Sentinel-2 images acquired in the middle of the vegetation season, when the leaves are fully developed are more suitable for tree cover mapping than the images acquired in spring. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) A ‘fit-for-purpose’ approach is developed, tested and presented for cadastral surveys through increased owners’ participation using new technology and m-government services. Three case studies are reported, for urban, suburban and rural areas, with a combined use of two mobile applications: a commercial software package (ESRI’s Collector for ArcGIS) and an opensource self-developed application named BoundGeometry. The parameters of time, quality and accuracy are assessed and the identified difficulties are classified. It is concluded that the method is applicable both in developed and developing countries, and each time adjustable to the available infrastructure.
