[Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (auteur) Landslides often cause significant casualties and economic losses, and therefore landslide susceptibility mapping (LSM) has become increasingly urgent and important. The potential of deep learning (DL) like convolutional neural networks (CNN) based on landslide causative factors has not been fully explored yet. The main target of this study is the investigation of a GIS-based LSM in Zanjan, Iran and to explore the most important causative factor of landslides in the case study area. Different machine learning (ML) methods have been employed and compared to select the best results in the case study area. The CNN is compared with four ML algorithms, including random forest (RF), artificial neural network (ANN), support vector machine (SVM), and logistic regression (LR). To do so, sixteen landslide causative factors have been extracted and their related spatial layers have been prepared. Then, the algorithms were trained with related landslide and non-landslide points. The results illustrate that the five ML algorithms performed suitably (precision = 82.43–85.6%, AUC = 0.934–0.967). The RF algorithm achieves the best result, while the CNN, SVM, the ANN, and the LR have the best results after RF, respectively, in this case study. Moreover, variable importance analysis results indicate that slope and topographic curvature contribute more to the prediction. The results would be beneficial to planning strategies for landslide risk management. [Termes IGN] standardRésumé : (auteur) Accessibility to tactile maps is limited due to their expensive and time-consuming development. Acceleration of their production requires standardized design guidelines that consider symbol design and production methods. In this paper, based on a review of research and best practice, we summarize knowledge on how to design tactile maps properly and provide a selection of highly legible, recommended symbols for the compilation of tactile maps. We also examine generalization constraints and other design parameters that are necessary for the standardization of tactile mapping. Finally, we explore differences in tactile map design depending upon the selected production method. Over the years, many useful guidelines have been developed although they remain unknown to the wider audience. There is still a long way to go in creating a global standard for the design of tactile maps. Note de contenu : Introduction

[Vedettes matières IGN] CartologieRésumé : (auteur) Individuals with different characteristics exhibit different eye movement patterns in map reading and wayfinding tasks. In this study, we aim to explore whether and to what extent map users’ eye movements can be used to detect who created them. Specifically, we focus on the use of gaze data for inferring users’ identities when users are performing map-based spatial tasks. We collected 32 participants’ eye movement data as they utilized maps to complete a series of self-localization and spatial orientation tasks. We extracted five sets of eye movement features and trained a random forest classifier. We used a leave-one-task-out approach to cross-validate the classifier and achieved the best identification rate of 89%, with a 2.7% equal error rate. This result is among the best performances reported in eye movement user identification studies. We evaluated the feature importance and found that basic statistical features (e.g. pupil size, saccade latency and fixation dispersion) yielded better performance than other feature sets (e.g. spatial fixation densities, saccade directions and saccade encodings). The results open the potential to develop personalized and adaptive gaze-based map interactions but also raise concerns about user privacy protection in data sharing and gaze-based geoapplications. [Termes IGN] précision de la classificationRésumé : (Auteur) Taking the Futian District as the research area, this study proposed an effective urban land cover mapping framework fusing optical and SAR data. To simplify the model complexity and improve the mapping results, various feature selection methods were compared and evaluated. The results showed that feature selection can eliminate irrelevant features, increase the mean correlation between features slightly, and improve the classification accuracy and computational efficiency significantly. The recursive feature elimination-support vector machine (RFE-SVM) model obtained the best results, with an overall accuracy of 89.17% and a kappa coefficient of 0.8695, respectively. In addition, this study proved that the fusion of optical and SAR data can effectively improve mapping and reduce the confusion between different land covers. The novelty of this study is with the insight into the merits of multi-source data fusion and feature selection in the land cover mapping process over complex urban environments, and to evaluate the performance differences between different feature selection methods.
