[Termes IGN] tâche image d'un pointRésumé : (Auteur) Efficient and accurate imaging spectroscopy data processing asks for perfectly consistent (i.e., ideally uniform) data in both the spectral and spatial dimensions. However, real pushbroom-type imaging spectrometers are affected by various point spread function (PSF) nonuniformity artifacts. First, individual pixels or lines may be missing in the raw data due to bad pixels originating from the detector, readout errors, or even electronic failures. Second, so-called smile and keystone optical aberrations are inherent to imaging spectrometers. Appropriate resampling strategies are required for the preprocessing of such data if emphasis is put on spatial PSF uniformity. So far, nearest neighbour interpolations have been often recommended and used for resampling. This paper shall analyze the radiometric effects if linear interpolation is used to optimize the spatial PSF uniformity. For modeling interpolation effects, an extensive library of measured surface reflectance spectra as well as real imaging spectroscopy data over various land cover types are used. The real measurements are systematically replaced by interpolated values, and the deviation between original and resampled spectra is taken as a quality measure. The effects of nearest neighbour resampling and linear interpolation methods are compared. It is found that linear interpolation methods lead to average radiometric errors below 2% for the correction of spatial PSF nonuniformity in the subpixel domain, whereas the replacement of missing pixels leads to average errors in the range of 10%-20%. Here, the authors present an empirical approach for building the covariance matrix of observations, with the ultimate goal to improve the quality of GPS data processing. [Termes IGN] modèle numérique de terrainRésumé : (auteur) Updating 2D databases has become a crucial issue in most mapping agencies. Such a work traditionally starts out with a change detection phase. A subsequent update phase is then carried out to register changes in the up-to-date database. The first phase is by far the most costly and plodding, as it has until now required field or visual inspection (of orthophotos). The main goal of this paper is to present a new method for detecting changes in the building layer of a 2D cadastral database. This method aims at giving potential changes to a human operator for subsequent validation and update registration. In this paper, we propose a new workflow for the change detection process, by splitting it into 2 separate steps. The first step consists in verifying automatically buildings through a hypothesizeand verify process: the initial description of the database is used to guide the change detection process. The second step consists in extracting new buildings from geometric considerations. In this paper, the method is tested and assessed in a densely built-up area. A specific methodology is firstly employed to estimate the best parameters to use in the system and also to characterise its performance. Results are secondly assessed and show the high potential of our system in such a context. [Termes IGN] visualisationRésumé : (Auteur) Choropleth maps are often used to visualize the spatial distribution of information collected for enumeration units. Such maps, however, are normally produced without considering the effect of uncertainty associated with data, which can contribute to incorrect interpretation. The purpose of this paper is to develop a method that can be used to evaluate the classification robustness of choropleth maps when the attribute uncertainty associated with the data is known or can be estimated. We first develop a measure to indicate the robustness of classification schemes. We then design a set of experiments to examine the robustness of different choropleth map classifications under various levels and types of uncertainty. Our experiments suggest that the robustness of a choropleth classification scheme is a function of uncertainty and the number of classes used. Increases in data uncertainty will decrease map robustness. However, it is possible to increase map robustness by choosing a smaller number of classes. We also discuss a visualization approach that can be used to display the classification robustness of each enumeration unit within a choropleth map. [Termes IGN] serveur de données localiséesRésumé : (Auteur) This paper proposes and implements a new methodology for progressive transmission of vector lines and polygons over the Internet. The methodology generates continuous vector data through constrained remove operations of vertices on the server side, maintains consistent topology via a set of constraint rules, and restores original vector data through a reconstruction operator on the client side. The prototype system was implemented to investigate the performance of the methodology in terms of the preservation of consistent topology, transmission time, and qualities of the resulting visualizations. The method is shown to be scalable to large data sets, to produce graphically acceptable results and to maintain topology.
