[Termes IGN] sémiologieRésumé : (auteur) The many facets of what is encompassed by such an expression as “quality of spatial data” can be considered as a specific domain of reality worthy of formal description, i.e. of ontological abstraction. Various ontologies for data quality elements have already been proposed in literature. Today, the system of quality elements is most generally used and discussed according to the configuration exposed in the “data dictionary for data quality” of international standard ISO 19157. Our communication proposes an alternative view. This is founded on a perspective which focuses on the specificity of spatial data as a product: the representation perspective, where data in the computer are meant to show things of the geographic world and to be interpreted as such. The resulting ontology introduces new elements, the usefulness of which will be illustrated by orthoimagery examples. [Termes IGN] relation topologiqueRésumé : (auteur) Being able to merge high quality and complete building models with parcel data is of a paramount importance for any application dealing with urban planning. However since parcel boundaries often stand for the legal reference frame, the whole correction will be exclusively done on building features. Then a major task is to identify spatial relationships and properties that buildings should keep through the conflation process. The purpose of this paper is to describe a method based on least squares approach to ensure that buildings fit consistently into parcels while abiding by a set of standard constraints that may concern most of urban applications. An important asset of our model is that it can be easily extended to comply with more specific constraints. In addition, results analysis also demonstrates that it provides significantly better output than a basic algorithm relying on an individual correction of features, especially regarding conservation of metrics and topological relationships between buildings. In the future, we would like to include more specific constraints to retrieve the actual positions of buildings relatively to parcel borders and we plan to assess the contribution of our algorithm on the quality of urban application outputs. Different issues need to be considered during the conception, acquisition and post-acquisition phases of VGI creation. This includes items such as collecting metadata on the volunteer, providing suitable training, giving corrective feedback during the mapping process and use of control data, among others. Two examples of VGI data collection are then considered with respect to this quality control framework, i.e. VGI data collection by National Mapping Agencies and by the most recent Geo-Wiki tool, a game called Cropland Capture. Although good practices are beginning to emerge, there is still the need for the development and sharing of best practice, especially if VGI is to be integrated with authoritative map products or used for calibration and/or validation of land cover in the future. [Termes IGN] SuèdeRésumé : (auteur) The amount of volunteered geographic information (VGI) has increased over the past decade, and several studies have been conducted to evaluate the quality of VGI data. In this study, we evaluate the completeness of the road network in the VGI data set OpenStreetMap (OSM). The evaluation is based on an accurate and efficient network-matching algorithm. The study begins with a comparison of the two main strategies for network matching: segment-based and node-based matching. The comparison shows that the result quality is comparable for the two strategies, but the node-based result is considerably more computationally efficient. Therefore, we improve the accuracy of node-based algorithm by handling topological relationships and detecting patterns of complicated network components. Finally, we conduct a case study on the extended node-based algorithm in which we match OSM to the Swedish National Road Database (NVDB) in Scania, Sweden. The case study reveals that OSM has a completeness of 87% in the urban areas and 69% in the rural areas of Scania. The accuracy of the matching process is approximately 95%. The conclusion is that the extended node-based algorithm is sufficiently accurate and efficient for conducting surveys of the quality of OSM and other VGI road data sets in large geographic regions.
