[Termes IGN] sismographeRésumé : (auteur) The developments in GNSS receiver and antenna technologies, especially the increased sampling rate up to 100 sps, open up the possibility to measure high-rate earthquake ground motions with GNSS. In this paper we focus on the GPS errors in the frequency band above 1 Hz. The dominant error sources are mainly the carrier phase jitter caused by thermal noise and the stress error caused by the dynamics, e.g. antenna motions. To generate a large set of different motions, we used a single-axis shake table, where a GNSS antenna and a strong motion seismometer were mounted with a well-known ground truth. The generated motions were recorded with three different GNSS receivers with sampling rates up to 100 sps and different receiver baseband parameters. The baseband parameters directly dictate the carrier phase jitter and the correlations between subsequent epochs. A narrow loop filter bandwidth keeps the carrier phase jitter on a low level, but has an extreme impact on the receiver response for motions above 1 Hz. The amplitudes above 3 Hz are overestimated up to 50 % or reduced by well over half. The corresponding phase errors are between 30 and 90 degrees. Compared to the GNSS receiver response, the strong motion seismometer measurements do not show any amplitude or phase variations for the frequency range from 1 to 20 Hz. Due to the large errors for dynamic GNSS measurements, it is essential to account for the baseband parameters of the GNSS receivers if high-rate GNSS is to become a valuable tool for seismic displacement measurements above 1 Hz. [Termes IGN] teneur en chlorophylle des feuillesRésumé : (auteur) Accurate modelling of leaf chlorophyll content over a range of spatial and temporal scales is central to monitoring vegetation stress and physiological condition, and vegetation response to different ecological, climatic and anthropogenic drivers. A process-based modelling approach can account for variation in other factors affecting canopy reflectance, providing a more accurate estimate of chlorophyll content across different vegetation species, time-frames, and broader spatial extents. However, physically-based modelling studies usually use hyperspectral data, neglecting a wealth of data from broadband and multispectral sources. In this study, we assessed the potential for using canopy (4-Scale) and leaf radiative transfer (PROSPECT4/5) models to estimate leaf chlorophyll content using canopy Landsat satellite data and simulated Landsat bands from leaf level hyperspectral reflectance data. Over 600 leaf samples were used to test the performance of PROSPECT for different vegetation species, including black spruce (Picea mariana), sugar maple (Acer saccharum), trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides) and jack pine (Pinus banksiana). At the leaf level, hyperspectral and simulated Landsat bands showed very similar results to laboratory measured chlorophyll (R2 = 0.77 and R2 = 0.75, respectively). Comparisons between PROSPECT4 modelled chlorophyll from simulated Landsat and hyperspectral spectra showed a very close correspondence (R2 = 0.97, root mean square error (RMSE) = 3.01 μg/cm2), as did simulated reflectance bands from other broadband and narrowband sensors (MODIS: R2 = 0.99, RMSE = 1.80 μg/cm2; MERIS: R2 = 0.97, RMSE = 2.50 μg/cm2 and SPOT5 HRG: R2 = 0.96, RMSE = 5.38 μg/cm2). [Termes IGN] système de référence géodésiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This article presents an approach to hierarchical matching of nodes in heterogeneous road networks in the same urban area. Heterogeneous road networks not only exist at different levels of detail (LoD), but also have different coordinate systems, leading to difficulties in matching and integrating them. To overcome these difficulties, a pattern-based method was implemented. Based on the authors' previous work on detecting patterns of divided highways, complex road junctions, and strokes to eliminate the LoD effect of road networks, the proposed method extracts the local networks around each node in a road network and uses them as the matching units for the nodes. Second, the degree of shape similarity between the matching units is measured using a Minimum Road Edit Distance based on a transformation. Finally, the proposed method hierarchically matches the nodes in a road network using the Minimum Road Edit Distance and eliminates false matching nodes using M-estimators. An experiment involving matching heterogeneous road networks with different LoDs and coordinate systems was carried out to verify the validity of the proposed method. The method achieves good and effective matching regardless of differences in LoDs and road-network coordinate systems. [Termes IGN] rayonnement terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) The Earth Radiation Measurement (ERM) instrument onboard FengYun (FY)-3B satellite observes the Earth's atmosphere through a narrow scanning field of view (NFOV) and a wide nonscanning FOV. For each field of view, the measurements are made from two broadband channels: a total waveband channel covering 0.2-50 um and a shortwave (SW) band covering 0.2-4.3 um. The validation to the ERM calibration was carried out by comparing the unfiltered longwave (LW) and SW radiances from ERM with those from Clouds and Earth's Radiation Energy System (CERES) flight model 3 onboard Earth Observing System Aqua satellite. While the ERM LW and SW radiances have a good correlation with CERES data, there is a systemic bias between the two data sets. A spectral correction is made for the ERM data using the CERES data. After the correction, the error of the ERM LW radiance is reduced from -3.00 to -0.60 W/sr · m2. For the SW radiance, the bias is reduced from 6.00 to 4.00 W/sr · m2. Based on the ERM in-orbit calibration data, the stability of the ERM LW radiometric response is analyzed, and it is shown that the gains are stable with a variation of less than 1.5% during its first 9 months in orbit. However, the gains at the SW channels have larger changes and exceed 3%. These drifts might be caused by the detector degradation. Also, the NFOV scanner at the SW channel is no longer working after its 8 months in orbit. One of the most advanced image segmentation techniques is multi-resolution segmentation implemented by eCognition®. Multi-resolution segmentation requires users to determine a set of proper segmentation parameters through a trial-and-error process. To achieve accurate segmentations of objects of different sizes, several sets of segmentation parameters are required: one for each level. However, the trial-and-error process is time consuming and operator dependent. To overcome these problems, this paper introduces a supervised and fuzzy-based approach to determine optimal segmentation parameters for eCognition®. This approach is referred to as the Fuzzy-based Segmentation Parameter optimizer (fbsp optimizer) in this paper. It is based on the idea of discrepancy evaluation to control the merging of sub-segments to reach a target segment. Experiments demonstrate that the approach improves the segmentation accuracy by more than 16 percent, reduces the operation time from two hours to one-half hour, and is operator independent.
