[Termes IGN] test statistiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Positional accuracy estimates of linear features based on their welldefined points can be significantly different than the accuracy estimates determined from their adjoining lines. A case study was conducted to determine both the cause of this difference as well as the relative effect of the number of points used in calculating the point-based accuracy estimate. Results showed that : (1) the difference between accuracy estimates was primarily due to dissimilar criteria for measuring closeness of primitive features ; and (2) the current US requirement of using 20 well-defined points provided a reasonable estimation of accuracy for the case study. The differences in accuracy estimates described in this study should impact both the definition of geospatial accuracy standards, and the interpretation of geographical analyses with respect to error propagation. [Termes IGN] terrainRésumé : (Auteur) The rational function model (RFM) is a sensor model that allows users to perform ortho-rectification and 3D feature extraction from imagery without knowledge of the physical sensor model. It is a fact that the RFM is determined by the vendor using a proprietary physical sensor model. The accuracy of the RFM solutions is dependent on the avaibility and the usage of ground control points (GCPs). In order to obtain a more accurate RFM solution, the user may be asked to supply GCPs to the data vendor. However, control information may not be available at the time of data processing or cannot be supplied due to some reasons (e.g., politics or confidentility). This paper adresses a means to update or improve the existing RFM solutions when additional GCPs are available, without knowing the physical sensor model. From a linear estimation perspective, the above issue can be tackled using a phased estimation theory . In this paper, two methods are proposed : a batch iterative least-squares (BILS) method and an incremental discrete Kalman filtering (IDKF) method. Detailed descriptions of both methods are given. The feasability of these two methods is validated and their performances are evaluated. Some results concerning the updating of Ikonos imagery are also discussed. However, for those responsible for managing its transportation systems, managing the roadways in this little kingdom are a big challenge. The Danish Road Directorate is stretching the boundaries of its MicroStation's use to include new paths to a greater connectivity Numéro de notice : A2002-262 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : GEOMATIQUE/INFORMATIQUE Nature : Article DOI : sans Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=22173

[Termes IGN] recouvrement d'imagesRésumé : (Auteur) Over the past decade, a number of initiatives have been undertaken to create definitive national and global data sets consisting of precision corrected Landsat Multispectral Scanner (Mss) and Thematic Mapper (TM) scenes. One important application of these data is the derivation of large area ]andcover products spanning multiple satellite scenes. A popular approach to land-cover mapping on this scale involves merging constituent scenes into image mosaics prior to image clustering and cluster labeling, thereby eliminating redundant geographic coverage arising from overlapping imaging swaths of adjacent orbital tracks. In this paper, arguments are presented to support the view that areas of overlapping coverage contain important information that can be used to assess and improve classification performance. A methodology is presented for the creation of large area land-cover products through the compositing of independently classified scenes. Statistical analyses of classification consistency between scenes in overlapping regions are employed both to identify mislabeled clusters and to provide a measure of classification confidence for each scene at the cluster level. During classification compositing, confidence measures are used to rationalize conflicting classifications in overlap regions and to create a relative confidence layer, sampled at the pixel level, which characterizes the spatial variation in classification quality over the final product. The procedure is illustrated with results from a synoptic mapping project of the Great Lakes watershed that involved the classification and compositing of 46 Landsat Mss scenes.
