[Termes IGN] transformation en ondelettesRésumé : (Auteur) In the last few years, several researchers have proposed different procedures for the fusion of multispectral and panchromatic images based on the wavelet transform, which provide satisfactory high spatial resolution images keeping the spectral properties of the original multispectral data. The discrete approach of the wavelet transform can be performed with different algorithms, Mallat's and the 'à trous' being the most popular ones for image fusion purposes. Each algorithm has its particular mathematical properties and leads to different image decompositions. In this article, both algorithms are compared by the analysis of the spectral and spatial quality of the merged images which were obtained by applying several wavelet based, image fusion methods. All these have been used to merge Ikonos multispectral and panchromatic spatially degraded images. Comparison of the fused images is based on spectral and spatial characteristics and it is performed visually and quantitatively using statistical parameters and quantitative indexes. In spite of its a priori lower theoretical mathematical suitability to extract detail in a multiresolution scheme, the à trous' algorithm has worked out better than Mallat's algorithm for image merging purposes. [Termes IGN] variogrammeRésumé : (Auteur) Global temporal composites of surface reflectances are among the most commonly used products of wide field-of-view satellite-borne instruments such as the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR). the MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) and VEGETATION. The multi-temporal and spatial consistencies of these composites are key elements for their usefulness. In this paper, we use two different criteria to evaluate the quality of existing and new temporal composite products in SPOT-VEGETATION imagery. The first criterion based on variograms. analyses the spatial characteristics of composite images, and the second one evaluates the quality of the time series based on the analysis of simultaneous imagery from VEGETATION 1 and VEGETATION 2. Thanks to these criteria, we show that the standard deviation of the errors that affect the surface reflectances of current composite products can be reduced by a factor greater than 2 using improved algorithms detailed in this paper. Finally, we produce multi- instrument composites by integrating images from both VEGETATION instruments to further improve the composite products. Note de contenu : 1 - PRINCIPE DU RADAR POLARIMETRIQUE

[Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (auteur) Airborne laser systems are nowadays well-known to provide regular and accurate altimetric data. The aim of this paper is to investigate the potential of using extracted features from a Lidar 3D point cloud for data fusion purpose through an hybrid image segmentation algorithm. The general context of this study is the building reconstruction. We first describe an efficient algorithm for extracting 3D planar primitives from a laser survey over urban areas. It is based on a normal driven random sample consensus (ND-RANSAC) which consists of randomly selecting sets of three points within laser points sharing the same orientation of normal vectors. A robust plane is then estimated with laser points that are likely to belong to the real roof facet. The number of random draws is managed automatically with a statistical analysis of the distribution of normal vectors within an approximation of the Gaussian sphere of the scene. These 3D facets are then introduced into an image segmentation algorithm based on a bottom-up region merging scheme. Initial regions are computed by a watershed transform onto the gradient of the aerial image. Regions adjacency are represented with a Region Adjacency Graph (RAG). Series of successive merging generates a hierarchy of RAGs where edges are mutual inclusion relationships. The process terminated when the entire image is represented as a single region. A cut in the hierarchy provides a desired image partition. Results of the facet extractions as well as of the segmentation are shown and discussed.
