The quality of the obtained gravity model strongly depends on the use of appropriate noise models for the different datasets in the combination process. In addition to random errors, those datasets are indeed often affected by systematic biases and correlated errors. Here we show how wavelets can be used to realize such combination in a flexible and economic way, and how the use of domain decomposition approaches allows to recalibrate the noise models in different wavebands and for different areas. We represent the gravity potential as a linear combination of Poisson multipole wavelets (Holschneider et al. 2003). We compute the wavelet model of the gravity field by regularized least-squares adjustment of the datasets. To solve the normal system, we apply the Schwarz iterative algorithms, based on a domain decomposition of the models space. Hierarchical scale subdomains are defined as subsets of wavelets at different scales, and for each scale, block subdomains are defined based on spatial splittings of the area. In the computation process, the data weights can be refined for each subdomain, allowing to take into account the effect of correlated noises in a simple way. Similarly, the weight of the regularization can be recalibrated for each subdomain, introducing non-stationarity in the a priori assumption of smoothness of the gravity field. We show and discuss examples of application of this method for regional gravity field modelling over a test area in Japan. [Termes IGN] volume (grandeur)Résumé : (Auteur) In this paper, the long-term consecutive differential interferometric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technique is used to measure the volume change during land deformation. This technique was used to investigate the subsidence of Bandung city, Indonesia, by assessing the data from two Japanese L-band spaceborne SARs (Japanese Earth Resources Satellite 1 SAR and Advanced Land Observation Satellite Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar) during the periods of 1993-1997 and 2007-2010. The results are confirmed using GPS observation data, ground survey data, local statistics, ground water level trend data, and the geological formation of the study area. The obtained results reveal a close correlation between the subsidence measurements and changes in the ground water level due to water pumping, population growth, industry growth, and urbanization of the study area. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser terrestreRésumé : (Auteur) Buddhist stone inscriptions of the 8th to 12th centuries ad are important cultural assets of China that need to be documented, analysed and interpreted archaeologically, art-historically and linguistically. On the one hand, such Buddhist stone inscriptions have to be conserved for future generations, but on the other hand, further possibilities for analysing the data could be achieved if the inscriptions were made accessible to a wider community, for instance, for understanding of the historical growth of Buddhism in China. In this paper, innovative techniques for the documentation of stone inscriptions located in the province of Sichuan, in the south-west of China, are demonstrated. The tasks to be performed include capturing the stone inscriptions by using high precision measuring techniques to generate copies of the original inscriptions, together with processing of the data enabling improvement in the legibility of characters and thus aiding the interpretation of the inscriptions. The concept and features of image processing as applied to the captured inscriptions are outlined. In order to present the outcome to as many people as possible and to allow individual interpretations of the results of the stone inscription reconstruction, their current interpretation and additional 2D/3D maps are published within an interactive web platform. [Termes IGN] transformation de coordonnéesRésumé : (Auteur) The meridian arc length from the equator to arbitrary latitude is of utmost importance in map projection, particularly in the Gauss-Krüger projection. In Japan, the previously used formula for the meridian arc length was a power series with respect to the first eccentricity squared of the earth ellipsoid, despite the fact that a more concise expansion using the third flattening of the earth ellipsoid has been derived. One of the reasons that this more concise formula has rarely been recognized in Japan is that its derivation is difficult to understand. This paper shows an explicit derivation of a general formula in the form of a power series with respect to the third flattening of the earth ellipsoid. Since the derived formula is suitable for implementation as a computer program, it has been applied to the calculation of coordinate conversion in the Gauss-Krüger projection for trial.
