[Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (Editeur) Turkey has a rich archaelogical and cultural heritage. However, a lack of experts in terrestrial survey, combined with technical deficiencies, result in inadequate documentation of heritage sites. Poorly operated terrestrial survey-restoration, documentation and reconstruction works may degrade cultural heritage rather than conserve it. Photogrammetry and GIS provide an efficient solution, as evidenced by the present authors using Hurmalik Bath site at Patara as a case. [Termes IGN] urbanisationRésumé : (Auteur) The landscape pattern of Daqing City, China, has undergone a significant change over the past 20 years, as a result of the rapid urbanization process. To understand how urbanization has influenced the landscape in Daqing City, the largest base of the petrochemical industry in China, we conducted a series of spatial analyses with landscape pattern maps obtained from Landsat images in 1979, 1990 and 2000. Results indicate that a substantial urban area has been extended during the past two decades, along with the shrinking of wetland and woodland. Spatio-temporal optimization is not a trivial task in developing landscape models. In previous studies, the optimization of spatial and temporal factors was achieved separately, because of the difficulty in formulating them together in a single model. In this study, we adapted the traditional Markov model by obtaining model parameters and neighbourhood rules from a modified genetic algorithm (GA). Model performance was evaluated between the empirical landscape map from the Landsat image and the simulated landscape map from the models. Over three simulation runs, the global deviation (GD) for the three models was 1.37, 1.10 and 1.15, respectively. This result shows that the Markov model and the GA together are able to effectively capture the spatio-temporal trend in the landscape pattern associated with urbanization for this region. The future landscape distribution in 2010, 2030 and 2050 was derived using a spatial Markov model (SMM) for further urban change and planning research. [Termes IGN] SyrieRésumé : (Auteur) This research aimed at studying the spectral reflectance intensity of different exposed volcanic rocks in Syria, and drawing their curves by radiometer measurements. In order to reach this goal, we have studied different kinds of volcanic rocks related to different ages, from the Jurassic until the recent Quaternary, and composed of fresh and altered basalt, phonolite and volcanic tuff. We measured the reflected rays of the volcanic rocks by using radiometers equipped with filters for the multi-spectral scanners (TM, MSS and SPOT), and the recorded information was treated according to the equation Reflectance = (Radiance + Dark current) Calibration factor / (Irradiance+ Dark current) Calibration factor. Furthermore, through this equation, we made a calculation for the reflectance intensity of each kind of measured rocks with different channels. We then showed the results of our measurements graphically. After that, we represented the average of the reflectance intensity curves for the various kinds of rocks, and for each kind of the mentioned scanners. We also determined the relative values of reflection in the different spectral channels to cancel the effect of the shadow, and to obtain the best information to help in designing and developing remote sensing survey equipment to recognize the mentioned rocks accurately. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) To improve the geographical accessibility of neurosurgical emergency hospitals for elderly people, we developed several alternative site plans for a new neurosurgical emergency hospital in Sapporo, Japan. Hospitals, population data, routes, and the numerical information for the Analytic Hierarchy Process computations were input into a Geographical Information System. Pairwise comparison revealed the following weights which were assigned to each of the four criteria: 0.674 for availability of hospital beds; 0.169 for the maximum road distance of the shortest routes; 0.101 for the elderly population within a 3-km radius; and 0.056 for the median road distance of the shortest routes. The alternative proposed could cover 4000 more elderly people in the 3-km radius of the hospitals. The integration of Geographical Information Systems and the Analytic Hierarchy Process constitutes a powerful tool for analysing traffic conditions in mid-sized cities and for suggesting city planning to improve prognosis of stroke. [Termes IGN] tectonique des plaquesRésumé : (Auteur) We have utilized satellite altimetry data to generate the very high-resolution gravity anomaly maps to infer subsurface geological structures in the area of the devastating earthquake (and the corresponding tsunami) that struck the Indian Ocean near Sumatra (Indonesia) on 26 December 2004. In the present study, a high-resolution three-dimensional (3D) gravity image has been generated over a part of the eastern Indian offshore encompassing the Sumatran earthquake region apart from Ninety East Ridge, Andaman subduction zone, etc. Four latitudinal (2°, 3°, 4° and 8.6° N) gravity profiles have been generated across the epicentre (3° N/M w 9.0)/aftershock regions (4° N/M w 5.8 and 8.6° N/M w 6.0 and 6.6). A drastic change of gravity anomaly patterns (sim130 mGal) near the epicentre and the aftershock regions could be observed, which are however slowly diminishing further away from the epicentre. This gravitational difference might have been caused by the differences in plate tectonic processes. Minor/major gravitational differences in other areas may be due to the changes in densities of different lithospheric zones/sedimentary layers. Hence, our study further supports the idea that negative gravity and topography anomalies can be used as a predictor for occurrences of large earthquakes in subduction zones.
