However, all the works pursue the same objective: to know and interpret nature from different points of view, either through knowledge of nature in situ or the use of technology and mapping using satellite images. Chapters analyze the ecological parameters that affect vegetation, the species that make up plant communities, and the influence of humans on vegetation. Note de contenu : 1. [Termes IGN] TaïwanRésumé : (auteur) The cadastral detail data is used for overlap analysis with digitized graphic cadastral maps to solve the problem of inconsistencies between cadastral maps and the current land situation. This study investigated the feasibility of a handheld LiDAR scanner to collect 3D point clouds in an efficient way for a detail survey in urban environments with narrow and winding streets. Then, urban detail point clouds were collected by the handheld LiDAR scanner. After point cloud filtering and the ranging systematic error correction that was determined by a plane-based calibration method, the collected point clouds were transformed to the TWD97 cadastral coordinate system using control points. The land detail line data were artificially digitized and the results showed that about 97% error of the digitized detail positions was less than 15 cm compared to the check points surveyed by a total station. The results demonstrated the feasibility of using a handheld LiDAR scanner to perform an urban cadastral detail survey in digitized graphic areas. Therefore, the handheld LiDAR scanner could be used for the production of the detail lines for urban cadastral detail surveying for digitized cadastral areas in Taiwan. [Termes IGN] utilisation du solRésumé : (auteur) Landslides are among the most destructive natural hazards with severe socio-economic ramifications all around the world. Understanding the critical combination of geoenvironmental factors involved in the occurrence of landslides can mitigate the adverse impacts ascribed to them. Among the several scenarios for studying and investigating this phenomenon, landslide susceptibility mapping (LSM) is the most prominent method. Applying the machine learning (ML) algorithms integrated with the geographic information systems (GIS) has become a trending means for accurate and rapid landslide mapping practices in the scientific community. Support vector machine (SVM) has been the most commonly applied ML algorithm for LSM in recent years. The current study aims to implement different SVM kernel functions including polynomial kernel function (PKF) (degree 1 to 5), radial basis function (RBF), sigmoid, and linear kernels, for a GIS-based LSM over the Tabriz Basin (TB). To this end, a total number of 9 conditioning parameters being involved in the occurrence of the landslide events were determined and utilized. The LSM maps of the TB were generated based on the different SVM kernels and were statistically validated according to the landslide inventory. The findings revealed that the polynomial-degree-2 (PKF-2) model (AUC = 0.9688) outperforms the rest of the utilized kernels. According to the SLM map generated through PKF-2, the northernmost parts of the TB are extremely susceptible to slope failures than the rest; therefore, the developmental policies over these parts have to be taken into account with privileged priority to hinder any humanitarian as well as environmental catastrophes. [Termes IGN] zone à risqueRésumé : (auteur) Floods are among the most frequently occurring natural disasters and the costliest in terms of human life and ecosystem disturbance. Identifying areas susceptible to flooding is important for developing appropriate watershed management policies. As such, the goal of the present study was to develop an integrated framework for flood susceptibility assessment in data-scarce regions, using data from the Haraz watershed in Iran. Flood-influencing indices best suited to the identification of areas particularly prone to flooding were selected. The decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) approach was used to investigate the interdependence among criteria and to develop a network structure representative of the problem. The relative importance of different flood-influencing factors was determined using the analytical network process (ANP). A flood susceptibility map was produced using weights obtained through the ANP and fuzzy-value function (FVF) and validated using 72 available flood locations where flooding occurred between 2006 and 2018. After validating the results, fuzzy theory served to better delineate the flood susceptibility scores among the region’s sub-watersheds. Incorporating the DEMATEL-ANP approach with FVF yielded an accuracy of 89.1%, as was assessed through the area under the curve (AUC) of a receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve. The results indicated that the strongest flood-influencing (occurrence/nonoccurrence) factors were elevation, land use, soil texture, and frequency of heavy rainstorms. The fuzzy theory showed sub-watershed C1 to be highly susceptible to flooding, and thus, most in need of flood management. [Termes IGN] roche métamorphiqueRésumé : (auteur) Metamorphic transformation rates are classically determined on decimetre-scale field samples and from laboratory experiments at smaller scales. Here we present a geophysical approach based on field data and joint geophysical–petrological modelling to quantify the average rate of metamorphic transformations at the 10–100-kilometre and million-year scales. The model simulates the eclogitization of Indian lower crust as it penetrates beneath southern Tibet. Metamorphic transformation of the lower crust is tracked by its densification, the effect of which is then compared to observed gravity anomalies. From the modelling we find that the Indian lower crust's overall densification requires a partially hydrated initial composition. Moreover, the modelled evolution of this densification compared to what is predicted by pressure–temperature–density grids is consistent with delayed, far-from-equilibrium metamorphism. The Indian lower crust descends underneath the Himalaya until beneath southern Tibet in a thermodynamically metastable state until the first dehydration reactions are reached. This observation is used to determine the average rate of metastable rock transformation to an eclogite facies assemblage, constrained at between ~6 × 10−9 and 5 × 10−7 g/cm2/year, and reaction affinity at 0.8–1.6 kJ/mol oxygen. Compared to field and laboratory data, this range of results matches the effective rates typically associated with regional metamorphism. This fit and correlation across the scales legitimates the use of transformation rates determined at small scales in large-scale geodynamic studies.
