[Termes IGN] séismeRésumé : (Auteur) Prediction of earthquakes using GPS analysis remains an unresolved but important problem. Pre-signals -changes in area measured by triangular networks of GPS receivers- were examined for many large earthquakes in Japan and in other Asian regions. We discovered that although the occurrence of location of an earthquake can be predicted, more research is required before the time of an earthquake can be precisely forecast. [Termes IGN] système d'information géographiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Municipalities in Saudi Arabia are working hard to make use of rapid advances in information technology (IT), especially geographic information systems (GIS), to improve their performance and increase their effectiveness. Most initiatives in IT applications, including GIS, are limited to individual departments rather than supporting comprehensive institutional operations. This has resulted in fragmented applications with isolated databases. It is obvious that the municipalities lack an overall framework to guide them through building reliable IT solutions that care for enterprise or corporate requirements. Because the Saudi municipalities share many commonalities, especially among their business functions and organizational structures, it is believed that a general framework is necessary to help them to develop their IT solutions in general and GIS applications in particular, because the majority of municipal decisions are spatially oriented. This article attempts to provide a framework for enterprise GIS for Saudi municipalities. It starts by reviewing the important issues associated with enterprise GIS to establish the basis for building a framework that is suitable for the Saudi context. The proposed GIS framework emphasizes the enterprise requirements for municipal institutions and considers GIS as a major IT requirement that can be supported by other related technologies. The suggested framework includes three main factors: business functions, tasks and data requirements. The integration of these factors provides the basis on which the municipalities can advance their aim of automating their functions. Discussion of these factors within Saudi context is presented with reference to the Municipality of Jeddah where data were based upon interviews with key municipal officials in 2004. The main finding of this research article is the identification of municipal functions and tasks that pave the way for determining applications required for the corporate IT solution. Furthermore, this article identifies data issues related to municipal data - sources, sharing and management - and calls for establishing a unified municipal data model. Finally, this article suggests that similarities among Saudi municipalities lead us to believe that IT applications can grow reasonably well by partnership among municipalities. [Termes IGN] JaponRésumé : (auteur) Castanopsis sieboldii var. sieboldii is an evergreen broadleaved canopy tree that grows on Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu Islands in Japan. A closely-related, hybridizing, congener species, C. cuspidata var. cuspidata, has different leaf epidermis structure and different seed nuts morphology compared to C. sieboldii var. sieboldii. Furthermore, the habitats in which the two species grow often indicate different water requirements. Analysis of genetic diversity, using transcribed sequences, will provide a sound basis for the management of this species, allowing successful reforestation, incorporating phylogeographic conservation. In order to obtain transcripts sequences for the species and to develop transcript-based markers, we constructed and analyzed a cDNA library, surveyed microsatellite sequences within it and designed PCR primers for the microsatellites. The cDNA library was constructed using tissue from the inner bark of C. sieboldii var. sieboldii; 3354 Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs) were identified. We constructed 2417 putative unigenes and assigned putative functions to 1856 of them. Three hundred and fourteen microsatellites were found within the putative unigenes and 16 EST-SSR (Simple Sequence Repeat) markers were developed. The EST-SSR markers developpe in this study should facilitate future analysis of the genetic diversity of this and related species. [Termes IGN] traitement d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) Ore deposits are often produced by fluid flow processes that basically alter the mineralogy and chemistry of the country rock. One of the important objectives of developed multispectral and a hyper-spectral sensor is to detect optical characteristics of the Earth surface using hundreds of spectral bands. All previous studies show that remote sensing can recognize alteration to different degrees using different spatial and spectral resolution sensors. ASTER sensor measures reflected radiation in VNIR, SWIR and TIR electromagnetic energies. It's cheap and easily available. The alteration minerals of Chadormalu area (Chadormalu paleocrater and the related iron oxide deposit) are investigated in the field and successfully detected by applying IARR (Internal Average Relative Reflectance), FCC (False Color Composite), Decorrelation-stretch, MNF (Minimum Noise Fraction Transform), correlated filter and MEM (Mathematical Evaluation Method) techniques on ASTER imageries. Sadie, potassic, and silicic-sericitisation alteration patterns are distinguished. This studv shows that, the ability and accuracy of MEM method is better than 2*2 correlated filter techniques. The results indicate that, pervasive hydrothermal ore-forming processes are important at the study area. Judging from alteration mineral assemblages, it may be said that Chadormalu iron deposit is an endmember of the Kiruna type -Iron oxide (Cu-Au) ore deposit continuum. [Termes IGN] réseau routierRésumé : (Auteur) Comprehensive and accurate information on the conditions of the road infrastructure is essential for effective management and planning of the road network, especially in cities facing serious traffic congestion problems, as in the city of Istanbul, Turkey. One of the most important services of the local authorities is the rehabilitation of road surfaces. Asphalt resurfacing is carried out to renew the road surface and restore its resistance to weathered and traffic worn pavements. Today, the determination of pavement surface conditions is usually carried out through visual inspections by the experts and interpretation of in situ photographs/videos. In this study, an investigation has been made to understand the spectral behaviour of the asphalt in terms of its contents and age, also to discover the feasibility of using widely available satellite sensors in the determination of road surface conditions. Two datasets in the study area from D-100 road and TEM highway were used to examine asphalt road aging and deterioration. The changes to the conditions of the roads were detected using multispectral IKONOS images and ground spectral measurements for asphalt samples were obtained using an Analytical Spectral Devices full range (ASD FR) instrument in a laboratory environment. It was found that the road deformations mainly occur in areas where vehicles reduce or increase their speeds suddenly. Road sections just before toll booths and junctions are found to be more prone to deformations. IKONOS images can be effectively used to determine the condition of the asphalt pixels.
