[Termes IGN] tempsRésumé : (Auteur) There has been a resurgence of interest in time geography studies due to emerging spatiotemporal big data in urban environments. However, the rapid increase in the volume, diversity, and intensity of spatiotemporal data poses a significant challenge with respect to the representation and computation of time geographic entities and relations in road networks. To address this challenge, a spatiotemporal data model is proposed in this article. The proposed spatiotemporal data model is based on a compressed linear reference (CLR) technique to transform network time geographic entities in three-dimensional (3D) (x, y, t) space to two-dimensional (2D) CLR space. Using the proposed spatiotemporal data model, network time geographic entities can be stored and managed in classical spatial databases. Efficient spatial operations and index structures can be directly utilized to implement spatiotemporal operations and queries for network time geographic entities in CLR space. To validate the proposed spatiotemporal data model, a prototype system is developed using existing 2D GIS techniques. A case study is performed using large-scale datasets of space-time paths and prisms. The case study indicates that the proposed spatiotemporal data model is effective and efficient for storing, managing, and querying large-scale datasets of network time geographic entities. [Termes IGN] téléphonie mobileRésumé : (auteur) Driven by the recent trends in the GIS domain including Volunteered Geographic Information, geo-crowdsourcing and citizen science, and fostered by the constant technological advances, collection and dissemination of geospatial information by ordinary people has become commonplace. However, applications involving user-generated geospatial content show dramatically diversified patterns in terms of incentive, type and level of participation, purpose of the activity, data/metadata provided and data quality. This study contributes to this heterogeneous context by investigating public participation in GIS within the field of mobile-based applications. Results not only show examples of how to technically build GIS applications enabling user collection and interaction with geospatial data, but they also draw conclusions about the methods and needs of public participation. We describe three projects with different scales and purposes in the context of urban monitoring and planning, and tourism valorisation. In each case, an open source architecture is used, allowing users to exploit their mobile devices to collect georeferenced information. This data is then made publicly available on specific Web viewers. Analysis of user involvement in these projects provides insights related to participation patterns which suggests some generalized conclusions. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) This paper introduces robust algorithms for extracting the ground points in laser scanning 3-D point cloud data. Global polynomial functions have been used for filtering algorithms for point cloud data; however, it is not suitable as it may lead to bias for the filtering algorithms and can cause misclassification errors when many different objects are present. In this paper, robust statistical approaches are coupled with locally weighted 2-D regression that fits without any predefined global function for the variables of interest. Algorithms are performed iteratively on 2-D profiles: x - z and y - z. The z (elevation) values are robustly down weighted based on the residuals for the fitted points. The new set of down-weighted z values, along with the corresponding x (or y) values, is used to get a new fit for the lower surface level. The process of fitting and down weighting continues until the difference between two consecutive fits is insignificant. The final fit is the required ground level, and the ground surface points are those that fall within the ground level and the level after adding some threshold value with the ground level for z values. Experimental results are compared with the recently proposed segmentation method through simulated and real mobile laser scanning point clouds from urban areas that include many objects that appear in road scenes such as short walls, large buildings, electric poles, signposts, and cars. Results show that the proposed robust methods efficiently extract ground surface points with better than 97% accuracy.
