[Termes IGN] segmentation d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) Object based image analysis (OBIA) is an approach increasingly used in classifying high spatial resolution remote sensing images. Object based image classifiers first segment an image into objects (or image segments), and then classify these objects based on their attributes and spatial relations. Numerous algorithms exist for the first step of the OBIA process, i.e. image segmentation. However, less research has been conducted on the object classification part of OBIA, in particular the spatial relations between objects that are commonly used to construct rules for classifying image objects and refining classification results. In this paper, we establish a context where objects are areal (not points or lines) and non-overlapping (we call this “single-valued” space), and propose a framework of binary spatial relations between segmented objects to aid in object classification. In this framework, scale-dependent “line-like objects” and “point-like objects” are identified from areal objects based on their shapes. Generally, disjoint and meet are the only two possible topological relations between two non-overlapping areal objects. However, a number of quasi- topological relations can be defined when the shapes of the objects involved are considered. Some of these relations are fuzzy and thus quantitatively defined. In addition, we define the concepts of line-like objects (e.g. roads) and point-like objects (e.g. wells), and develop the relations between two line-like objects or two point-like objects. For completeness, cardinal direction relations and distance relations are also introduced in the proposed context. Finally, we implement the framework to extract roads and moving vehicles from an aerial photo. The promising results suggest that our methods can be a valuable tool in defining rules for object based image analysis. [Termes IGN] représentation multipleRésumé : (Auteur) More and more frequently, the populating of 3D MRDB’s (Multi Representations Data Base) is required to support advanced cartographic applications and advanced geospatial decision analysis. We previously proposed a manual photogrammetric process based on the Multi Representation Acquisition Pattern (MRAP) concept to tackle simultaneously Fine Level Geometries (FLG) extraction and Coarse Level Geometries (CLG) extraction. This paper presents our progress, from an automation standpoint, regarding our approach to populate MRDBs containing building geometries through a photogrammetric multiple representations acquisition process. Two new algorithms dedicated to Multi Representation (MR) acquisition are introduced and constitute two contributions. These combine passive imagery and Digital Surface Model analysis in order to address automation issues. The first algorithm allows for the automatic determination of the MRAP parameters from a single click initialization. The second algorithm aims at supporting part of the MR acquisition when MRAP are not relevant and allows the automatic building footprints extraction. This paper describes the project motivation and its actual progress. It is divided into four parts. The first part concerns the MR data acquisition specifications. A description of the manual prototype is provided and the MRAP concept is described. In the second part, the first algorithm allowing the automatic determination of the MRAP parameters is introduced. The third part is dedicated to the review of the automation performances through the study of three test sites. Finally, our second algorithm, allowing the automatic building footprints extraction is introduced with preliminary results. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (Auteur) The purpose of this paper is to propose a new notion on prominent areas of a city defined by two types of comprehensive prominence for identifying urban spatial structure. Not only geometric attributes and topological attributes but also thematic attributes of irregular areas (e.g. districts of a city) are used to define these indices. In the paper, first the topological prominence related to geometric attributes such as size, location, and shape of areas is constructed by spatial weight matrix. Second, for finding comprehensive prominences, the principle axis factor model is adopted, and the first factor score is defined as the comprehensive prominence 1. Then, the proportion of thematic attributes of each area occupied in across the city is used to define the comprehensive prominence 2. Finally, we use these comprehensive prominences to extract some important regions in Matsudo City of Chiba Prefecture in Japan. The areas composing those regions show a high topological prominence, have a large population, have many offices, and are located around the train station. [Termes IGN] PostgreSQLRésumé : (Auteur) This paper discusses extensions of GAP-trees from three aspects and its implementation based on non-topological structure in order to enhance access to large vector data sets. First of all, we apply cartographic generalization rules to build a generalization procedure of the GAP-tree, which makes coarse representations more consistent with human cognition. Second, we replace the three-dimensional (pseudo-) Reactive-tree index with a 2D R-tree index and a B-tree index to improve the system efficiency. Finally, we compress a binary GAP-tree into multi-way GAP-trees in order to reduce data redundancy. The shallower multi-way GAP-trees not only eliminate redundant data but also accelerate the system's response time. The extensions have been successfully implemented in PostgreSQL. A test of Beijing's land-use data at the 1:10 000 scale demonstrates that the extended GAP-trees are efficient, compact, and easy to implement.
