[Termes IGN] surveillance de l'urbanisationRésumé : (Auteur) Unplanned development and informal settlements are typical characteristics of megacities not only in developing countries but also in many developed countries, and they have considerable impact on the environment and on multiple human activities. Thus, development of an automated, robust, cost-effective, and quick procedure for informal building monitoring is of great value. This paper introduces a simple strategy based on a change detection algorithm intended for application in Greece. Several internally published methods for change detection are presented prior to presenting the proposed strategy. The results of two application tests in the greater area of Athens in the Attica region of Greece are presented and compared with the results of the commercial package, Feature Analyst™. The results of the proposed application are discussed and further research is proposed. The Dutch-swedish company 4Sight develops successful 3D- and 4D-visuals of spatial projects of governements, real estate developers and housing corporations. Interactive virtuals with a high level of detail are built from GIS- and CAD-data, among others, so that clients will have a better view on the final plans. [Termes IGN] Royaume-UniRésumé : (Auteur) In this article, the development of digital photography in the UK from the 1980's onward are charted. It draws on the author's own experiences as someone who has been involved throughout this period. He states that in the last 20 years, digital aerial imagery has come a very long way, since it has developed from a niche product used by a few specialists to an information source with broad appeal to both professionals and consumers, that is quickly and cheaply accessible. In the short term and beyond, the prospects are very good, with a continuing role for those business innovators that have brought everyone this far.
