However, the existing solutions for the optimal location problem assume that there is only one criterion to determine the preferred site for each object, whereas with numerous real-world applications multiple criteria are used as preference measures. For example, while a single criterion solution might consider the metric distance between the customers and the retail store as the preference measure, a multi-criteria solution might consider the annual membership cost as well as the distance to the retail store to find an optimal location. In this paper, for the first time we develop an efficient and exact solution for the so-called Multi-Criteria Optimal Location (MCOL) problem that can scale with large datasets. Toward that end, first we formalize the MCOL problem as maximal reverse skyline query (MaxRSKY). Given a set of sites and a set of objects in a d-dimensional space, MaxRSKY query returns a location in the space where if a new site s is introduced, the size of the (bichromatic) reverse skyline set of s is maximal. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first to define and study MaxRSKY query. Accordingly, we propose a filter-based solution, termed EF-MaxRSKY, that effectively prunes the search space for efficient identification of the optimal location. Our extensive empirical analysis with both real and synthetic datasets show that EF-MaxRSKY is invariably efficient in computing answers for MaxRSKY queries with large datasets containing thousands of sites and objects. [Vedettes matières IGN] AltimétrieRésumé : (Auteur) The Global Positioning System (GPS) is considered as one of the most powerful tools that are used in geodetic works. It is increasingly considered as an alternative tool for conventional surveying techniques. The goal of this research paper is to produce a methodology for generating topographic contour maps using the post-processed kinematic differential GPS technique (PPK-GPS). The performance of this technique is assessed by comparing it with the traditional spirit-leveling technique taking into consideration the accuracy, time, and cost. The study area is located along the Mediterranean coast in the Rosetta area of the middle Delta in Egypt with a total area of about 39 km2. The field work includes 14 control points and about 50,000 PPK observations. In addition, 20 check cross sections that extend along the coastal line from Rosetta to El Burullus cities were observed using both spirit-leveling and GPS-PPK techniques. The results of the comparison indicate that the PPK-GPS technique can be used instead of spirit leveling in producing a topographic contour map with an accuracy of about 20 cm in orthometric height. We find that the PPK-GPS technique reduces the estimated time of leveling works in our study area by about 70%. [Termes IGN] traitement du signalRésumé : (Auteur) Waveform Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data have advantages over discrete-return LiDAR data in accurately characterizing vegetation structure. However, we lack a comprehensive understanding of waveform data processing approaches under different topography and vegetation conditions. The objective of this paper is to highlight a novel deconvolution algorithm, the Gold algorithm, for processing waveform LiDAR data with optimal deconvolution parameters. Further, we present a comparative study of waveform processing methods to provide insight into selecting an approach for a given combination of vegetation and terrain characteristics. We employed two waveform processing methods: (1) direct decomposition, (2) deconvolution and decomposition. In method two, we utilized two deconvolution algorithms – the Richardson-Lucy (RL) algorithm and the Gold algorithm. The comprehensive and quantitative comparisons were conducted in terms of the number of detected echoes, position accuracy, the bias of the end products (such as digital terrain model (DTM) and canopy height model (CHM)) from the corresponding reference data, along with parameter uncertainty for these end products obtained from different methods. This study was conducted at three study sites that include diverse ecological regions, vegetation and elevation gradients. Results demonstrate that two deconvolution algorithms are sensitive to the pre-processing steps of input data. The deconvolution and decomposition method is more capable of detecting hidden echoes with a lower false echo detection rate, especially for the Gold algorithm. Compared to the reference data, all approaches generate satisfactory accuracy assessment results with small mean spatial difference ( Numéro de notice : A2017-349 Affiliation des auteurs : non IGN Thématique : IMAGERIE Nature : Article nature-HAL : ArtAvecCL-RevueIntern DOI : 10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2017.04.021 En ligne : https://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.isprsjprs.2017.04.021 Format de la ressource électronique : URL article Permalink : https://documentation.ensg.eu/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=85622

[Termes IGN] point d'appuiRésumé : (auteur) Long-term observations of the Antarctic ice sheet will contribute to a quantitative evaluation and precise prediction of the sea level change induced by global changes in climate. This paper proposes an improved rigorous geometric modeling method for the declassified KH-5 ARGON satellite images collected in Antarctica in 1960s. The scanned film images are preprocessed beforehand to enhance the quality for further analysis. Systematic errors such as lens distortion and atmospheric refraction are also considered and corrected. A scheme is proposed to measure the ground control points for the historical images based on modern image mosaic and DEM products. The bundle adjustment results of four blocks in regions in East Antarctica present a geometric positioning accuracy of less than one nominal pixel resolution (140 m) in both horizontal and vertical directions, outperforming the published results. A regional DEM of the ice sheet that represents the topography in 1963 is then generated from the stereo ARGON images for the first time, the evaluation of which shows its consistency with the modern product but with great value for studying the recent change history of the ice sheet.
