[Termes IGN] Equateur (état)Résumé : (Auteur) Geophysics experts are interested in understanding the behavior of volcanoes and forecasting possible eruptions by monitoring and detecting the increment on volcano-seismic activity, with the aim of safeguarding human lives and material losses. This paper presents an automatic volcanic event detection and classification system, which considers feature extraction and feature selection stages, to reduce the processing time toward a reliable real-time volcano early warning system (RT-VEWS). We built the proposed approach in terms of the seismicity presented in 2009 and 2010 at the Cotopaxi Volcano located in Ecuador. In the detection stage, the recordings were time segmented by using a nonoverlapping 15-s window, and in the classification stage, the detected seismic signals were 1-min long. For each detected signal conveying seismic events, a comprehensive set of statistical, temporal, spectral, and scale-domain features were compiled and extracted, aiming to separate long-period (LP) events from volcano-tectonic (VT) earthquakes. We benchmarked two commonly used types of feature selection techniques, namely, wrapper (recursive feature extraction) and embedded (cross-validation and pruning). Each technique was used within a suitable and appropriate classification algorithm, either the support vector machine (SVM) or the decision trees. The best result was obtained by using the SVM classifier, yielding up to 99% accuracy in the detection stage and 97% accuracy and sensitivity in the event classification stage. Selected features and their interpretation were consistent among different input spaces in simple terms of the spectral content of the frequency bands at 3.1 and 6.8 Hz. A comparative analysis showed that the most relevant features for automatic discrimination between LP and VT events were one in the time domain, five in the frequency domain, and nine in the scale domain. Our study provides the framework for an event classification system with high accuracy and reduced computational requirements, according to the orientation toward a future RT-VEWS. [Termes IGN] visée verticaleRésumé : (Auteur) Multi-perspective airborne images that combine oblique and vertical views of the ground have proved to be a valuable source of information for numerous applications requiring a digital representation of the world. In this paper, an automatic methodology for rough georeferencing of large datasets of multiview oblique and vertical aerial images of urban regions without any metadata is proposed. Using feature-based matching combined with robust model fitting and least-squares techniques, the method requires the measurement of a minimum number of points with known coordinates in only one image. The results of this methodology are discussed through the presentation of a developed software suite which identifies the overlapping images, georeferences them, extracts their footprints, subdivides the images into groups based on these footprints and detects the images that cover a specific region. [Termes IGN] test de performanceRésumé : (Auteur) This paper determines the capability of two photogrammetric systems in terms of their measurement uncertainty in an industrial context. The first system–V-STARS INCA3 from Geodetic Systems Inc. – is a commercially available measurement solution. The second system comprises an off-the-shelf Nikon D700 digital camera fitted with a 28 mm Nikkor lens and the research-based Vision Measurement Software (VMS). The uncertainty estimate of these two systems is determined with reference to a calibrated constellation of points determined by a Leica AT401 laser tracker. The calibrated points have an average associated standard uncertainty of 12.4 µm, spanning a maximum distance of approximately 14.5 m. Subsequently, the two systems’ uncertainty was determined. V-STARS INCA3 had an estimated standard uncertainty of 43.1 lm, thus outperforming its manufacturer’s specification; the D700/VMS combination achieved a standard uncertainty of 187 µm. [Termes IGN] réseau à haut débitRésumé : (Auteur) The development of GNSS technology (Global Navigation Satellite Systems), including GPS technology (Global Positioning System), and the increase of accuracy and precision of the International GNSS Service (IGS) products, make Precise Point Positioning (PPP) technique more and more attractive. The IGS service provides clock products even for high rate determination – 30 seconds. The article is analyzing and comparing the 30 seconds high rate data and the interpolated data from 300 seconds in static PPP determination. Three stages of analysis are done: in the first stage the impact of data products on LC and PC postfit residuals are accounted, in the second stage the impact on wet troposphere delays (WTD) is analyzed and in the third stage the coordinate variation on North, East and Up component is presented. The stations that were analyzed are two IGS stations, BUCU and SOFI and two EUREF
stations: COST and AUT1. The results presented an increase of 30% for LC postfit residuals in the case of interpolated data and no obvious influence on PC postfit residuals.
