Terrain surface movements are estimated with the help of segmentation and random sample consensus (RANSAC) algorithm. Tree movements are interpreted by iterative closest point (ICP) solved translations and rotations of tree point clouds. The capabilities of the proposed methodology were tested using a case study of the Slumgullion landslide, where the trees without clear trunks cover the terrain surfaces. The displacements from the terrain surfaces and trees are similar with the results observed using our global positioning system (GPS) and historic results. [Termes IGN] trafic routierRésumé : (auteur) To equally distribute the workload and minimize the travel distance for fire departments, we developed a new dynamic floating stations model (DFSM) to target traffic-related emergency medical services (EMS) during peak hours. This study revealed that traffic-related EMS incidents have different characteristics to other EMS incidents. The number of floating stations was determined by the number of available ambulances at a given time. The optimum floating station location was identified by using the given capacity to establish the smallest service radius. In DFSM simulations using floating stations with a capacity of 100 and 150 EMS incidents, the result shows significant improvements in comparison to the current situation. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (auteur) Current filtering methods of airborne LiDAR bathymetry (ALB) point clouds cannot identify negative anomalies or avoid over-filtering of the data. To overcome these problems, we propose a bidirectional cloth simulation filtering (BCSF) method and verify it using captured data. First, a transfer iterative trend surface is established to eliminate the negative anomalies and realize the continuous expression of the seafloor topography. The terrain complexities of the seafloor points are calculated using four extracted feature factors: slope, standard deviation of depth, Gaussian curvature, and roughness. We then calculate the sub-regional terrain complexity and the adaptive distance threshold and obtain user-defined parameters. Finally, sub-regional filtering is carried out, and a filtered surface is established to solve the over-filtering problem of convex and concave seafloor topographies based on the BCSF correction model. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, the BCSF method was applied to ALB data captured around Yuanzhi Island in the South China Sea. The experimental results show that the BCSF method effectively filters out non-seafloor points and fully preserves the seafloor microtopography to realize the integrity of the seafloor topography. The proposed BCSF method outperforms the cloth simulation filtering method in terms of the elimination rate, which decreases from 38.78% to 2.52% and from 29.52% to 0.70% in the whole study area and local study area, respectively. Consequently, the BCSF method that combines forward filtering with inverse filtering exhibits complementary advantages, avoids over-filtering, and demonstrates strong adaptability and robustness for ALB data. [Termes IGN] TurquieRésumé : (Auteur) If the usability of orthophotos of aerial images and high-resolution satellite images in cadastre renewal works is ensured, the state cadastre can be maintained and constantly updated. For this purpose, three pilot fields in Konya, Adana and Şanlıurfa were selected. In these fields, land surveys were made with a CORS method by using GPS. The coordinates were obtained by using orthophotos in Konya (1/2000 scale) and in Adana (1/5000 scale) and orthophotos with 1/5000 scale obtained from WorldView-2 high-resolution satellite images in Şanlıurfa. One aim was to establish the positional accuracy of the data obtained from digital orthophotos and area accuracy in comparison with cadastral areas by presuming that the land surveys were accurate. In light of the discovered results, comments on the usability of orthophotos obtained from aerial images and high-resolution satellite images in renewal cadastre were made. [Vedettes matières IGN] Ecologie forestièreRésumé : (auteur) The protection of forests is crucial to providing important ecosystem services, such as supplying clean air and water, safeguarding critical habitats for biodiversity, and reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. Despite this importance, global forest loss has steadily increased in recent decades. Protected Areas (PAs) currently account for almost 15% of Earth’s terrestrial surface and protect 5% of global tree cover and were developed as a principal approach to limit the impact of anthropogenic activities on natural, intact ecosystems and habitats. We assess global trends in forest loss inside and outside of PAs, and land cover following this forest loss, using a global map of tree cover loss and global maps of land cover. While forests in PAs experience loss at lower rates than non-protected forests, we find that the temporal trend of forest loss in PAs is markedly similar to that of all forest loss globally. We find that forest loss in PAs is most commonly—and increasingly—followed by shrubland, a broad category that could represent re-growing forest, agricultural fallows, or pasture lands in some regional contexts. Anthropogenic forest loss for agriculture is common in some regions, particularly in the global tropics, while wildfires, pests, and storm blowdown are a significant and consistent cause of forest loss in more northern latitudes, such as the United States, Canada, and Russia. Our study describes a process for screening tree cover loss and agriculture expansion taking place within PAs, and identification of priority targets for further site-specific assessments of threats to PAs. We illustrate an approach for more detailed assessment of forest loss in four case study PAs in Brazil, Indonesia, Democratic Republic of Congo, and the United States.
