[Termes IGN] image hyperspectraleRésumé : (auteur) Hyperspectral imagery generates huge data volumes, consisting of hundreds of contiguous and often highly redundant spectral bands. Difficulties are caused by this high dimensionality. Feature selection (FS) is a possible strategy to reduce the number of bands, consisting in selecting the most relevant bands for a classification problem. It is adapted to the design of superspectral sensor dedicated to specific applications. FS is an optimization problem involving both a metric (that is to say a FS score or criterion measuring the relevance of feature subsets) to optimize and an optimization strategy. In this paper, a wrapper FS score based on Random Forests (RF) and taking into account RF class membership measures was proposed. It was compared to a state-of-the-art wrapper FS score (classification Kappa obtained by RF). Both were then evaluated quantitatively considering both classification performance reached applying different classifiers. An qualitative analysis was also performed to consider the stability/regularity of the selected features along the spectrum. Even though the quantitative evaluation showed little differences between the two tested FS criteria, there seemed to be a trend in favour of the proposed criterion. Taking into account the measures of class membership provided by a RF classifier slightly improved results, regularizing feature selection. [Termes IGN] prédictionRésumé : (auteur) The aim of this study is to test and compare two probabilistic based models (frequency ratio and weightsof- evidence) with regard to regional gold potential mapping at Kelantan, Malaysia. Until now these models have not been used for the purpose of mapping gold potential areas in Malaysia. This study analyzed the spatial relationship between gold deposits and geological factors such as lithology, faults, geochemical and geophysical data in geographical information system (GIS) software. About eight (8) gold deposits and five (5) related factors are identified and quantified for their spatial relationships. Then, all factors were combined to generate a predictive gold potential map. The predictive maps were then validated by comparing them with known gold deposits using receiver operating characteristics (ROC) and “area under the curve” (AUC) graphs. The results of validation showed accuracies of 80% for the frequency ratio and 74% for the weightsof- evidence model, respectively. The results demonstrated the usefulness of frequency ratio and weights-of-evidence modeling techniques in mineral exploration work to discover unknown gold deposits in Kelantan, Malaysia. [Termes IGN] régression logistiqueRésumé : (éditeur) This highly anticipated second edition features new chapters and sections, 225 new references, and comprehensive R software. In keeping with the previous edition, this book is about the art and science of data analysis and predictive modeling, which entails choosing and using multiple tools. Instead of presenting isolated techniques, this text emphasizes problem solving strategies that address the many issues arising when developing multivariable models using real data and not standard textbook examples. It includes imputation methods for dealing with missing data effectively, methods for fitting nonlinear relationships and for making the estimation of transformations a formal part of the modeling process, methods for dealing with "too many variables to analyze and not enough observations," and powerful model validation techniques based on the bootstrap. The reader will gain a keen understanding of predictive accuracy, and the harm of categorizing continuous predictors or outcomes. This text realistically deals with model uncertainty, and its effects on inference, to achieve "safe data mining." It also presents many graphical methods for communicating complex regression models to non-statisticians. Regression Modeling Strategies presents full-scale case studies of non-trivial datasets instead of over-simplified illustrations of each method. These case studies use freely available R functions that make the multiple imputation, model building, validation, and interpretation tasks described in the book relatively easy to do. Most of the methods in this text apply to all regression models, but special emphasis is given to multiple regression using generalized least squares for longitudinal data, the binary logistic model, models for ordinal responses, parametric survival regression models, and the Cox semiparametric survival model. A new emphasis is given to the robust analysis of continuous dependent variables using ordinal regression. Note de contenu : Introduction
