[Termes IGN] semis de pointsRésumé : (Auteur) Road furniture recognition has become a prevalent issue in the past few years because of its great importance in smart cities and autonomous driving. Previous research has especially focussed on pole-like road furniture, such as traffic signs and lamp posts. Published methods have mainly classified road furniture as individual objects. However, most road furniture consists of a combination of classes, such as a traffic sign mounted on a street light pole. To tackle this problem, we propose a framework to interpret road furniture at a more detailed level. Instead of being interpreted as single objects, mobile laser scanning data of road furniture is decomposed in elements individually labelled as poles, and objects attached to them, such as, street lights, traffic signs and traffic lights. In our framework, we first detect road furniture from unorganised mobile laser scanning point clouds. Then detected road furniture is decomposed into poles and attachments (e.g. traffic signs). In the interpretation stage, we extract a set of features to classify the attachments by utilising a knowledge-driven method and four representative types of machine learning classifiers, which are random forest, support vector machine, Gaussian mixture model and naïve Bayes, to explore the optimal method. The designed features are the unary features of attachments and the spatial relations between poles and their attachments. Two experimental test sites in Enschede dataset and Saunalahti dataset were applied, and Saunalahti dataset was collected in two different epochs. In the experimental results, the random forest classifier outperforms the other methods, and the overall accuracy acquired is higher than 80% in Enschede test site and higher than 90% in both Saunalahti epochs. The designed features play an important role in the interpretation of road furniture. The results of two epochs in the same area prove the high reliability of our framework and demonstrate that our method achieves good transferability with an accuracy over 90% through employing the training data of one epoch to test the data in another epoch. [Termes IGN] réseau altimétrique nationalRésumé : (auteur) The gravity potential of the zero point of the Iranian height datum (IRHD) is determined as well as the IRHD offset from a global geoid. For this purpose, the geodetic boundary value problem (GBVP) solution based on the remove–compute–restore (RCR) technique is used. In the RCR technique, a global geopotential model (GGM) is required as a reference to remove and restore the long wavelengths of the gravity field. Since the GGMs do not have adequate accuracy over Iran, the IRHD offset is not precisely estimated by the GBVP solution. In this study, aiming to improve the latter, a combination solution based on the GBVP approach and spirit-leveling/gravimetry (LG) data, called the GBVP_LG solution, is proposed. To obtain the GBVP_LG solution, gravity potential obtained from the GBVP solution and the gravity potential differences derived from the LG data are used as two types of observations in a least-squares adjustment. The proper relative weight matrices are determined using the variance component estimation method. To evaluate the proposed method, the gravity potential differences between the start and end points of several check-lines in the leveling network derived from the GBVP and GBVP_LG solutions are compared with those of the LG data. The results show that the dependency of the GBVP_LG solution on the reference model used is much less than that of the GBVP solution. In addition, the results indicate that the GBVP_LG solution has a 42% improvement with respect to the GBVP solution in terms of root-mean-square error. As a result of the GBVP_LG solution, the gravity potential of the IRHD zero point is estimated equal to WIRHD0=62,636,855.89±0.16m2/s2. Therefore, the IRHD offset with respect to the geoid defined by W0=62,636,853.4m2/s2 is obtained equal to −25.4±1.6cm, which means that the IRHD is 25.4 cm below the geoid. [Termes IGN] surface de l'eauRésumé : (Auteur) This paper presents a comprehensive total vertical uncertainty (TVU) model for topo-bathymetric Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) systems. The TVU model consists of a combination of analytical uncertainty propagation for the subaerial (above water) portion and Monte Carlo simulation models for the subaqueous portion (water surface to seafloor). The TVU model was tested on a topo-bathymetric LIDAR data set collected by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Geodetic Survey (NGS) in Southwest Florida, U.S., in May 2016 using a Riegl VQ-880-G topo-bathymetric LIDARsystem. The TVU values were compared against the empirical standard deviation and were found to capture the variability of uncertainty with depth while providing (slightly) conservative estimates of uncertainty. The results may be used to inform data acquisition protocols and data processing models. The model implementation is now beginning to be used operationally at NGS for topo-bathymetric LIDAR projects. [Termes IGN] séismeRésumé : (auteur) Fluid‐induced stress perturbations in the crust at seismogenic depths caused by sources such as tidal or seasonal loading may trigger earthquakes. We investigate the role of small periodic pore pressure (Pp) perturbation in rupture nucleation by performing laboratory triaxial creep experiments on Fontainebleau sandstone, saturated in water, under sinusoidal Pp variations. Results show that recorded acoustic emissions (AEs) correlate with Pp as the rock approaches failure. More interestingly, AEs occur significantly more when Pp is decreasing, that is, when strain rate is maximum with a progressive increase of Pp‐AEs correlation in time as the rock approaches failure. This suggests that the correlation of small stress perturbations and AEs not only depends on Pp amplitude but also on the criticality of the rock. Observations at the laboratory scale support field observations where tidal loading may have modulated seismic rates during the nucleation phase of the 2004 Sumatra‐Andaman and 2011 Tohoku‐Oki earthquakes. Sentinel-2 MSI and Rapid Eye are some of the new generation satellite sensors that are characterized by finer spatial and spectral resolution, including the red edge band. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of the red edge band of Sentinel-2 and Rapid Eye, for mapping festuca C3 grass using discriminant analysis and maximum likelihood classification algorithms. Spectral bands, vegetation indices and spectral bands plus vegetation indices were analysed. Results show that the integration of the red edge band improved the festuca C3 grass mapping accuracy by 5.95 and 4.76% for Sentinel-2 and Rapid Eye when the red edge bands were included and excluded in the analysis, respectively. The results demonstrate that the use of sensors with strategically positioned red edge bands, could offer information that is critical for the sustainable rangeland management.
