[Termes IGN] segmentation sémantiqueRésumé : (Auteur) This study explored the land use/land cover (LULC) separability by the machine-generated and user-generated Flickr photo tags (i.e. the auto-tags and the user-tags, respectively), based on an authoritative LULC dataset for San Diego County in the United States. Ten types of LULCs were derived from the authoritative dataset. It was observed that certain types of the reclassified LULCs had abundant tags (e.g. the parks) or a high tag density (e.g. the commercial lands), compared with the less populated ones (e.g. the agricultural lands). Certain highly weighted terms of the tags derived based on a term frequency–inverse document frequency weighting scheme were helpful for identifying specific types of the LULCs, especially for the commercial recreation lands (e.g. the zoos). However, given the 10 sets of tags retrieved from the corresponding 10 types of LULCs, one set of tags (all the tags located at one specific type of the LULCs) could not fully delineate the corresponding LULC due to semantic overlaps, according to a latent semantic analysis. [Termes IGN] surcharge océaniqueRésumé : (Auteur) Ocean tide loading (OTL) displacement amplitudes and phase lags of SHAO site are estimated by global positioning system (GPS), kinematic precise point positioning (PPP) and spectral analysis using 19 years of continuous GPS observations. In kinematic PPP, the 66 additional harmonic displacement parameters are replaced by the three time-varying displacement parameters without a priori modelled OTL displacements. By comparing the results with predictions from hybrid regional/global models, we are able to demonstrate that GPS/model agreements are at the level of 0.2 mm (horizontal) and 0.6 mm (vertical) for the four lunar constituents, 0.4 mm (horizontal) and 1.35 mm (vertical) for the four solar/sidereal constituents, and 0.2 mm (horizontal) and 0.3 mm (vertical) for the three long-period constituents. Finally, we conclude that GPS-derived lunar constituents can substitute for the model corrections in GPS data processing and the accuracy of GPS-derived solar/sidereal constituents needs to be improved by further studies. [Termes IGN] simplification de contourRésumé : (Auteur) An automatic method for the regularisation of building outlines is presented, utilising a combination of data‐ and model‐driven approaches to provide a robust solution. The core part of the method includes a novel data‐driven approach to generate approximate building polygons from a list of given boundary points. The algorithm iteratively calculates and stores likelihood values between an arbitrary starting boundary point and each of the following boundary points using a function derived from the geometrical properties of a building. As a preprocessing step, building segments have to be identified using a robust algorithm for the extraction of a digital elevation model. Evaluation results on a challenging dataset achieved an average correctness of 96·3% and 95·7% for building detection and regularisation, respectively. [Termes IGN] résiduRésumé : (Auteur) Sentinel-1 (S-1) is a two-satellite constellation for continuity of operational synthetic aperture radar (SAR) observations. Wave mode (WV) is the default mode over open ocean for S-1 to monitor global ocean waves and wind field. Therefore, proper radiometric calibration is essential to accurately infer these geophysical quantities. Based on the global data set acquired by S-1A WV, assessment of normalized radar cross section (NRCS) is carried out through comparison with CMOD5.N predictions over open ocean. The calibration accuracy quantified by NRCS residuals between SAR measurements and CMOD5.N demonstrates distinct features for two incidence angles (23.8° and 36.8°). Particularly, NRCS at 23.8° is overall consistent with CMOD5.N, while NRCS at 36.8° displays great deviation. Two recalibration methods are then implemented by examining the backscattering profile over Amazon rain forest and ocean calibration. Both methods show the necessity for recalibration and obtain comparable correction factors for WV1 and WV2, respectively. The NRCS residuals by applying both methods are significantly reduced toward zero. By comparison, ocean calibration is more efficient and practical to implement.
