[Termes IGN] segmentation sémantiqueRésumé : (Auteur) Building detection in big earth data by remote sensing is crucial for urban development. However, improving its accuracy remains challenging due to complicated background objects and different viewing angles from various remotely sensed images. The hereto proposed methods predominantly focus on multi-scale feature learning, which omits features in multiple aspect ratios. Moreover, postprocessing is required to refine the segmentation performance. We propose modified semantic segmentation (MSegnet), a single-shot semantic segmentation model based on a matrix of convolution layers to extract features in multiple scales and aspect ratios. MSegnet consists of two modules: backbone feature learning and matrix convolution to conduct vertical and horizontal learning. The matrix convolution comprises a set of convolution operations with different aspect ratios. MSegnet is applied to a public building data set that is widely used for evaluation and shown to achieve satisfactory accuracy, compared with the published single-shot methods. [Termes IGN] polygoneRésumé : (auteur) Various spectral indices have been introduced to detect water extent from satellite images with different performances in various regions. The aim of this study is to provide an efficient index using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm to detect water spread areas from satellite images with similar performance in different regions. This index is introduced for images containing water absorption bands from visible to middle infrared wavelengths. Eleven images were prepared from different satellites and water bodies with various environmental conditions. In addition, 40 pixels from water and 40 pixels from non-water regions were selected as training data for PSO algorithm. Results were evaluated using digitized polygons of water bodies on high-resolution images of Google Earth. The best results in PSO-based water index (PSOWI) were obtained by the combination of two bands (red and middle infrared). PSOWI represented proper performance in the selected various land covers and satellite images. [Termes IGN] valeur aberranteRésumé : (auteur) In adjusted geodetic networks, cases of local configuration defects (defects in the geometric structure of the network due to missing data or errors in point numbering) can be encountered, which lead to the singularity of the normal equation system in the least-squares procedure. Numbering errors in observation sets cause the computer program to define the network geometry incorrectly. Another cause of a defect may be accidental omission of certain data records, causing local indeterminacy or lowering of local reliability rates in a network. Obviously, the problem of a configuration defect may be easily detectable in networks with a small number of points. However, it becomes a real problem in large networks, where manual checking of all data becomes a very expensive task. The paper presents a new strategy for the detection of configuration defects with the use of the Tikhonov regularization method. The method was implemented in 1992 in the GEONET system (www.geonet.net.pl). The proposed model incorporates similarity and relevance measures, exhibited from Q-analysis of simplicial complexes, facilitating data manipulation and revealing latent relations in a spatial-social network. It also uses an indoor-specific metric representing the ease of access to process spatial-social queries in indoor environments. The proposed model’s experimental implementation shows the quantitative advantage of using graph-based representation and the qualitative superiority of simplex-based enrichment in processing spatial-social queries in indoor environments. [Termes IGN] zone urbaineRésumé : (auteur) The spatially heterogeneous nature and geographical scale of surface urban heat island (SUHI) driving mechanisms remain largely unknown, as most previous studies have focused solely on their global performance and impact strength. This paper analyzes diurnal and nocturnal SUHIs in China based on the multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR) model for 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2018. Compared to results obtained using the ordinary least square (OLS) model, the MGWR model has a lower corrected Akaike information criterion value and significantly improves the model’s coefficient of determination (OLS: 0.087–0.666, MGWR: 0.616–0.894). The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and nighttime light (NTL) are the most critical drivers of daytime and nighttime SUHIs, respectively. In terms of model bandwidth, population and Δfine particulate matter are typically global variables, while ΔNDVI, intercept (i.e., spatial context), and NTL are local variables. The nighttime coefficient of ΔNDVI is significantly negative in the more economically developed southern coastal region, while it is significantly positive in northwestern China. Our study not only improves the understanding of the complex drivers of SUHIs from a multiscale perspective but also provides a basis for urban heat island mitigation by more precisely identifying the heterogeneity of drivers.
