[Vedettes matières IGN] GéovisualisationRésumé : (Auteur) Whether it is sunrise, the weekend, or Christmas, some form of temporal structure or periodic pattern governs our daily activities. Understanding them is essential to making sense of human activity, because they frame normality and allow us to identify abnormalities. However, cultural heterogeneity and scale greatly complicate our ability to uncover and understand human activity at a given time within a region. Current research in the field of visual analytics and geography provide methods of addressing spatiotemporal periodicity, but they fall short in providing access to multiple spatial and temporal scales via a relevant calendar. In response to these shortcomings, we developed PerSE (periodicity in spatiotemporal events), a coordinated-view Web application designed to aid users in the detection and analysis of calendar-related periodicity in spatiotemporal event data sets. Given the complexity of such a visualization tool, this paper focuses on the usability and learnability of PerSE. We evaluated the tool through a 20-participant study that consisted of training, a multiple-choice test, and the System Usability Scale. Our analysis of the results shows that the complex combination of visual tools and multi-scale, multi-calendar capability used within PerSE is effective, but still in need of usability improvements. [Termes IGN] programmation par contraintesRésumé : (auteur) Constrained Clustering allows to make the clustering task more accurate by integrating user constraints, which can be instance-level or cluster-level constraints. Few works consider the integration of different kinds of constraints, they are usually based on declarative frameworks and they are often exact methods, which either enumerate all the solutions satisfying the user constraints, or find a global optimum when an optimization criterion is specified. In a previous work, we have proposed a model for Constrained Clustering based on a Constraint Programming framework. It is declarative, allowing a user to integrate user constraints and to choose an optimization criterion among several ones. In this article we present a new and substantially improved model for Constrained Clustering, still based on a Constraint Programming framework. It differs from our earlier model in the way partitions are represented by means of variables and constraints. It is also more flexible since the number of clusters does not need to be set beforehand; only a lower and an upper bound on the number of clusters have to be provided. In order to make the model-based approach more efficient, we propose new global optimization constraints with dedicated filtering algorithms. We show that such a framework can easily be embedded in a more general process and we illustrate this on the problem of finding the optimal Pareto front of a bi-criterion constrained clustering task. We compare our approach with existing exact approaches, based either on a branch-and-bound approach or on graph coloring on twelve datasets. Experiments show that the model outperforms exact approaches in most cases. [Vedettes matières IGN] Traitement de données GNSSRésumé : (auteur) As one of the main error sources in high-precision Global Positioning System (GPS) data processing, higher-order ionospheric (HOI) delays cause significant effects on coordinate time series that cannot be ignored in analyses of long time series. Typically two geomagnetic models, DIPOLE model and International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) model, are used for calculating HOI corrections. This paper investigates the effects of HOI correction caused by the DIPOLE model on coordinate time series. GPS data from 104 globally distributed International GNSS Service (IGS) stations spanning from January, 1999 to December, 2003 were reprocessed following up-to-date processing strategies utilizing GAMIT and GLOBK software. Two coordinate time series solutions before and after applying HOI corrections using the DIPOLE model were derived for studying the effects in terms of seasonal variations and noise amplitudes. The results show that after applying the HOI corrections calculated with DIPOLE, the noise amplitudes of the coordinate time series increased, especially in the north and east directions, and the increased amplitudes of the flicker noise were larger than those of the white noise. Furthermore, spurious periodic signals that were probably introduced by the HOI corrections from the DIPOLE model were also found. Moreover, an apparent increase was confirmed for the power spectra of most of the stations, especially in the north direction, and the amplitudes of both the annual and semi-annual signals also increased in the north and east directions. It can be inferred that the quality of the external data sources such as the geomagnetic model might be the key factors that lead to the above results. The results also suggest that we should be very careful when the DIPOLE model is used for HOI corrections.
