[Termes IGN] seuillage d'imageRésumé : (Auteur) The narrow-band interference (NBI) is a common jamming signal against synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which can degrade the imaging quality severely. This paper proposes a new method for NBI suppression in the data domain based on the independent component analysis (ICA). In this method, echoes contaminated by the NBI are identified in the frequency domain. Next, time filtering and whitening are performed to the identified echoes. Then, the ICA is carried out to decompose the echoes into a series of basis signals, and the jamming components are selected by thresholding. Finally, the NBI is reconstructed and subtracted from the echoes, and the well-focused SAR imagery is obtained by conventional imaging methods. The proposed method copes well with the time-varying NBI with little signal loss. Results of simulated and measured data have proved the validity of the proposed method. [Termes IGN] voxelRésumé : (Auteur) In this study, a novel noise reduction algorithm for hyperspectral imagery (HSI) is proposed based on high-order rank-1 tensor decomposition. The hyperspectral data cube is considered as a three-order tensor that is able to jointly treat both the spatial and spectral modes. Subsequently, the rank-1 tensor decomposition (R1TD) algorithm is applied to the tensor data, which takes into account both the spatial and spectral information of the hyperspectral data cube. A noise-reduced hyperspectral image is then obtained by combining the rank-1 tensors using an eigenvalue intensity sorting and reconstruction technique. Compared with the existing noise reduction methods such as the conventional channel-by-channel approaches and the recently developed multidimensional filter, the spatial–spectral adaptive total variation filter, experiments with both synthetic noisy data and real HSI data reveal that the proposed R1TD algorithm significantly improves the HSI data quality in terms of both visual inspection and image quality indices. The subsequent image classification results further validate the effectiveness of the proposed HSI noise reduction algorithm. [Termes IGN] traitement du signalRésumé : (Editeur) [...] In this month's column, we take a look at a novel GNSS signal-processing technique, which uses the principles of SAR to improve code and carrier-phase observations in degraded environments such as under forest canopy. The technique can simultaneously reject multipath signals while maximizing the direct line-of-sight signal power from a satellite. Along with a specially programmed software receiver, it uses either a single conventional antenna mounted, say, on a pedestrian's backpack for GIS applications or a special rotating antenna for high-accuracy surveying. [Termes IGN] trajectographie par GPSRésumé : (Auteur) Well credited and widely used ionospheric models, such as the International Reference Ionosphere or NeQuick, describe the variation of the electron density with height by means of a piecewise profile tied to the F2-peak parameters: the electron density, NmF2 , and the height, hmF2. Accurate values of these parameters are crucial for retrieving reliable electron density estimations from those models. When direct measurements of these parameters are not available, the models compute the parameters using the so-called ITU-R database, which was established in the early 1960s. This paper presents a technique aimed at routinely updating the ITU-R database using radio occultation electron density profiles derived from GPS measurements gathered from low Earth orbit satellites. Before being used, these radio occultation profiles are validated by fitting to them an electron density model. A re-weighted Least Squares algorithm is used for down-weighting unreliable measurements (occasionally, entire profiles) and to retrieve NmF2 and hmF2 values—together with their error estimates—from the profiles. These values are used to monthly update the database, which consists of two sets of ITU-R-like coefficients that could easily be implemented in the IRI or NeQuick models. The technique was tested with radio occultation electron density profiles that are delivered to the community by the COSMIC/FORMOSAT-3 mission team. Tests were performed for solstices and equinoxes seasons in high and low-solar activity conditions. The global mean error of the resulting maps—estimated by the Least Squares technique—is between 0.5*1010 and 3.6*1010 elec/m-3 for the F2-peak electron density (which is equivalent to 7 % of the value of the estimated parameter) and from 2.0 to 5.6 km for the height ( ~ 2 %).
