[Termes IGN] transformation intensité-teinte-saturationRésumé : (Auteur) Various fusion methods have been developed for improving data spatial resolution. The methods most encountered in the literature are the intensity-hue-saturation (IHS) transform, the Brovey transform, the principal components algorithm (PCA) fusion method, the Gram-Schmidt fusion method, the local mean matching method, the local mean and variance matching method, the least square fusion method, the discrete wavelet fusion method including Daubechies, Symlet, Coiflet, biorthogonal spline, reverse biorthogonal spline, and Meyer wavelets, the wavelet-PCA fusion method, and the crossbred IHS and wavelet fusion method. Using various evaluation indicators such as two-dimensional correlation, relative difference of means, relative variation, deviation index, entropy difference, peak signal-to-noise ratio index and universal image quality index, as well as photo-interpretation methods and techniques, results of the above fusion methods were compared and comments on the fusion methods and potential of evaluation indicators were made. Among data fusion methods and indicators the local mean and variance matching methods proved the most efficient and the peak signal-to-noise ratio indicator proved the most appropriate for the evaluation of data fusion results. [Termes IGN] vectorisationRésumé : (Auteur) A method for the automatic detection and vectorization of roads from lidar data is presented. To extract roads from a lidar point cloud, a hierarchical classification technique is used to classify the lidar points progressively into road and non-road points. During the classification process, both intensity and height values are initially used. Due to the homogeneous and consistent nature of roads, a local point density is introduced to finalize the classification. The resultant binary classification is then vectorized by convolving a complex-valued disk named the Phase Coded Disk (PCD) with the image to provide three separate pieces of information about the road. The centerline and width of the road are obtained from the resultant magnitude image while the direction is determined from the corresponding phase image, thus completing the vectorized road model. All algorithms used are described and applied to two urban test sites. Completeness values of 0.88 and 0.79 and correctness values of 0.67 and 0.80 were achieved for the classification phase of the process. The vectorization of the classified results yielded RMS values of 1.56 m and 1.66 m, completeness values of 0.84 and 0.81 and correctness values of 0.75 and 0.80 for two different data sets. Signal, receiver, and sensor-station experimentation demonstrate that all Galileo signals perform significantly better than GPS-C/A with regard to noise and multipath performance. [Termes IGN] trajet multipleRésumé : (Auteur) Multipath error is considered one of the major errors affecting GPS observations. One can benefit from the repetition of satellite geometry approximately every sidereal day, and apply filtering to help minimize this error. For GPS data at 1 s interval processed using a double-difference strategy, using the day-to-day coordinate or carrier-phase residual autocorrelation determined with a 10-h window leads to the steadiest estimates of the error-repeat lag, although a window as short as 2 h can produce an acceptable value with > 97% of the optimal lag’s correlation. We conclude that although the lag may vary with time, such variation is marginal and there is little advantage in using a satellite-specific or other time-varying lag in double-difference processing. We filter the GPS data either by stacking a number of days of processed coordinate residuals using the optimum “sidereal” lag (23 h 55 m 54 s), and removing these stacked residuals from the day in question (coordinate space), or by a similar method using double-difference carrier-phase residuals (observational space). Either method results in more consistent and homogeneous set of coordinates throughout the dataset compared with unfiltered processing. Coordinate stacking reduces geometry-related repeating errors (mainly multipath) better than carrier-phase residual stacking, although the latter takes less processing time to achieve final filtered coordinates. Thus, the optimal stacking method will depend on whether coordinate precision or computational time is the over-riding criterion. [Termes IGN] surveillance écologiqueRésumé : (Auteur) National and regional obligations to control and maintain water quality have led to an increase in coastal and estuarine monitoring. A potentially valuable tool is high temporal and spatial resolution satellite ocean colour data. NASA's MODIS-Terra and -Aqua can capture data at both 250 m and 500 m spatial resolutions and the existence of two sensors provides the possibility for multiple daily passes over a scene. However, no robust atmospheric correction method currently exists for these data, rendering them unusable for quantitative monitoring applications. Therefore, this paper presents an automatic and dynamic atmospheric correction approach allowing the determination of ocean colour. The algorithm is based around the standard MODIS 1 km atmospheric correction, includes cloud masking and is applicable to all of the visible 500 m bands. Comparison of the 500 m ocean colour data with the standard 1 km data shows good agreement and these results are further supported by in situ data comparisons. In addition, a novel method to produce 500 m chlorophyll-a estimates is presented. Comparisons of the 500 m estimates with the standard MODIS OC3M algorithm and to in situ data from a near-coast validation site are given.
